From that same taster pack: Pours a watery copper with a low white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is weak. Mouthfeel is weak and watery. Flavor is weak, although I did get a hint of funky yeast and sugar.

From the taste of Belgium six pack, amber body, very thin head leaves some lace. Aroma and flavors of apple, and yeasty bready malts. Overall it was o.k.

BB 01/04/11. Got this in a Belgian mixer gift pack from the LCBO. Pours clear copper with a medium off white head that fades to a small layer after a minute or two. Leaves some lacing behind. A quick swirl brings the head and aroma right back. Aroma is sweet, slightly fruity. Flavour starts sweet, some spice, mainly malty, ends with just a slight bitterness. Nothing special. Smooth but thin mouth with medium carbonation.

I got a deep amber colored ale. Moderately robust off white frothy head. Settles in short order leaving big soapy lumps. The nose is of yeast, grassy and ever so gentle touch of caramel. There is a fair amount of carbonation to this light bodied brew. Though there is a crisp dryness in the finish. The taste is as gentl. Some bittering and spicy hops. Some caramel hidden away in there. Not bad, but not real good.

I tried this beer on May 21, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent light red colour with a ton of effervescence and a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was sweet malt, grain, and hops. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, and highly carbonated. The flavour was sweet malt with a bit of sourness and a bitter finish.

Faint, spicy aroma with some earthiness thrown in. Clear copper body topped by a thin filmy head and moderate lacing around the glass. On the light side, sweet and peppery. Finishes thin w/ a sliver of lasting bitterness. Sweet, biscuity malt with mild, musty yeast flavors. Pepper and faded hop flavors. Nice brew that could be sessionable due to it's mild pleasantness.

Presentation: Poured from a 330ml/11.2oz bottle in to a tulip glass. Appearance: It has a nice golden amber color with a slight haze. The head was crazy big, white in color and foamy with stiff peaks. It had a very long retention time and left cool lacing on the glass. Smell: The aroma is full and has notes of sour apples and pears with earthy/funky Belgian yeast and doughy malts. Taste/Mouth feel: It has a sour funky favor with some fruity esters as well. The first sip has a puckering affect on the palate. Then there is a dry earthy yeast flavor with some doughy malts and light fruity esters that give it some nice complexity. The body is light to medium with a somewhat thin texture that is alive with carbonation. Notes: Overall I really enjoyed this ale. It had a nice refreshing character that would work very well with a light lunch, sea food, mild cheese or fruit.

Pour was pale gold with smallish fizzy head and some lacing. The aroma was sour and funky just like the rest of the beers in this mixed disaster Belgian 6-pack from Van Steenberg. 5 losers out of 6 all the same...weak, sour and overcarbonated. Different shades of the same lousy variety. This one had some graininess and bitterness under the cardboard, sweet rotten fruity malt and off sour taste. Bleh.

This beer pours a clear rusty amber colour with a thin white head. The aroma is malt, yeast, and citrusy hops. The flavour was much less discernable. Nothing really stands out.....no hoppish bitterness, not really malty, but drinkable.
