https://www.boulevard.com/funky-pumpkin/ Our entry in the very popular pumpkin ale market is an eccentric one, with pumpkin flavor scarcely present, upstaged by cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and ginger. A pleasant tartness prevails, with barrel aging providing a mellow roundness, and Brettanomyces putting the "unk" in Funky.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a medium fizzy creamy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is perfumey pumpkin spice and some vegetal earthiness.

The flavor is tart sour fruits with some earthy pumpkin spices. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and very watery.

    Overall, not that great.

Pours clear honey-golden with a thick though effervescent pale buff head. Strong aroma is mainly pumpkin plus nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Flavor brings out malt and a hint of hops in addition to the pumpkin and spices. Not quite a liquid pumpkin pie, but a great beer for the autumnal equinox. (OK, in the northern hemisphere - to the folks south of the equator, happy Spring equinox.) Texture lacks body and fizz, but pumpkin and spice finish is satisfying.

Bottle. Orange amber with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma is strong pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice with a soft malt backbone. No hint of the sour. Taste, though, unleashes it! Sour fruit, spices, earthy notes, funky yeast, light malt, hints of caramel and lemon. Body is medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Dry during the finish, as well. Ends with more pumpkin pie spices, light malt, light caramel, earthy notes, sour fruit and funky yeast.

A bright orange colored beer with a decent frothy textured off white head rising above. There’s some hang time on the head. A thin ringlet is left. Autumn spices of cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon in the nose. The funkiness of a sour is there as well. And these sensations blend well in a thirst quenching, light pumpkin flavored beer. Well carbonated. .
