When Charlie Papazian founded The Great American Beer Festival in 1982, Boulder Beer was happy to brew a special high gravity ale to celebrate the inaugural event. For the silver anniversary of what has become one the world's premier beer showcases, we're honored to do it again, and this time brew one of Charlie's recent favorites that we're calling 25th Year Beer. With a rich golden hue, this brew has plenty of British Pale Malt for a high original gravity; this ale is then assertively hopped in the kettle for a smooth balanced flavor, with more than a dash of Saaz hops dry-hopped in the fermenter lending it a unique floral aroma. One of the original 22 breweries at the first GABF, we're been back every year, and are thrilled to raise a glass in celebration of the flavor and diversity of American Craft Beer. Cheers!

Bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a light white head. Slight lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Nice mouthfeel. Flavor has a nice blend of malt and hops. Not overpowering to say the least, but very tasty. I'd get this again.

Discounted bomber for $2 I eagerly grabbed it and am glad that I did. Good hoppy aroma with ample scents of grapefruit and oranges. Copper pour with an orange tint. Medium fluffy white head with medium lacing along the glass. Bitter on the palate and oh so refreshing. There is a medium fullness to this with an easy finish. Outstanding taste, the citrus hop flavors are more dominant here compared to the nice aroma. Hearty malts mixed in creates a nice tangy taste of grapefruit and pine.

Poured a light orange color with good head and good lacing. Aroma was of grapfruits. Glavor was grapfruit pine and floral hops. Mouthfeel was a little thiner then i expected.

Poured a pale clear orange color, generous white head, great lacing, nice looking beer. Aroma was of strong floral hops, some grapefruits. Flavor was amply hopped, floral hops, grapefruits, piney-resinous notes, some light caramel underneath. Mouthfeel was light-moderate for the ESB style (not overly malted or high alcohol), somewhat dry finish.

Poured a lightly hazy, dark golden color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of light floral hops, toffee, bready malts, citrus, and pine as well. Taste of more toffee, some light pine, citrus, and grapefruit in the finish.

22 oz bottle. Pours a golden orange with a medium frothy white head after a vigorous pour. It quickly goes to a thin film that laces the glass.
The aroma is piney peppery hops but there's some rotten melon and cardboard. The hops smell good, the rest not so much.
The flavor is sweet melon, starchy malts, and then some spicy hops with a sweet finish. The flavors don't really blend well at all. It's too sweet with not enough hop balance. The alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel is medium and pretty watery with some sharp carbonation.
Overall, it's almost like a good DIPA, but just a bit off.

This ESB pours a copper gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to full sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, peaches, floral and piney hops. A medium to light bodied ESB. Malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and bready. Hops are slightly spicy, piney and floral. Kind of sweet and mild tasting this is a very drinkable beer. Odd, but there is a little bit of a Belgian quality to the fruitiness in this beer. The hops are most definitely American in flavor and the malts are very British in style. Nice carbonation. Hides the 7.3% alcohol very well. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
