While camping, brewers John and Tom stashed their beer in a quiet stream to chill it. Smart, until a storm came, causing floods. After trudging through the rain back to the campsite, they found their gear washed away and the beer gone. While hunting for the beer (and gear) they decided to brew a bold beer that was nature-proof. This double IPA crafted with juniper berries may be called Pine in the Neck, but it's worth the trouble.

OK, so Blue Moon is a mega-brew pretending to be the product of a microbrewery, but they have done some good things. Pours a clear copper with a thick and fluffy cream-buff head. Aroma is heavy on the hops, mostly piney, with an underpinning of sour citrus, more Mandarin orange than grapefruit. Flavor is hoppy, though not as much as the aroma promises, and more of the woody component comes through. Texture is somewhat fizzy, none too thick. Micros still do it better, but this is at least palatable.
