This Double India Pale Ale is packed with way too much malt, borderline too many hops and of just enough yeastie character to tie it all together. Taste why we chose No.3 to be our final answer. 105 IBU’s

    22oz bottle -

This first time with The Big Dipa really wasn't all that great. I'm not sure how much they improved with this one, because it too wasn't really all that great. Hops are present in the aroma, but so it a fruity sweetness like old orange juice soaked in french bread. Malts dominate the flavor in everyway and the hops squeak out a meager existence on the palate. The crushing malts make this hard to enjoy, and it boarders on barleywine territory. In fact, if viewed in that way it's not all that bad.

Sampled on 6/18/2011. This Imperial India Pale Ale pours a slightly hazy medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and malty, sweet and bready. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are citrusy and herbal. Much more malt forward than your ‘normal’ California 2x IPA. Much more in the English style, lots of caramely, bready malts with a bunch of sweetness. There is a whole lots of hops here as well, but the malt flavors dominate. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and sweet. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
