A festive seasonal collaboration between Big Rig brewmaster Lon Ladell and local beer writer and publican Jeff O’Reilly. This brew is filled with rich gingerbread-y and malt-y deliciousness frolicking with notes of cinnamon, fancy molasses, vanilla, ginger, HO HO HO and a hint of chestnuts roasting on an open fire. This beer is a perfect and fitting tribute to the joy and wonder of Christmas (which can only be made that much better when served in pint sized portions of course!) Not as sweet as stealing a kiss under the mistletoe – but guaranteed to warm the heart of even the stingiest Grinch !

Had a pint at D'Arcy McGees with Chopz. Pours very little head, dissipates quickly. Has a rusty coppery/brown appearance. Not very much strong aromas at this point, mild spices and malts. Flavours of roasted malts, very light ginger, notes of cinnamon. Slight sweetness on the palate, sort of syrupy. Not too bad.

Enjoyed at D'Arcy McGees with PaleAleRider. Not sure if this one is clear or slightly hazy, as the glass is chilled from the cold beer served. Copper colour with a warm cap, decent retention and some dirty spots. Sweet malty nose with spices, brown sugars and caramel notes. Honey and mild dark fruits come out as it warms up. Nice gingerbread flavours with the cinnamon and ginger. Refreshingly wet with a little stick. A pretty good representation of gingerbread. Gets very good warmer. Also gets sweeter with time.
