Sampled on 6/3/2009. TR3 barrel. This sour ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 375ml bottle. Small to no head. The aroma is tart fruit, some oak and a touch of alcohol. A medium bodied sour ale. The malts are fruit and tart. Lots of oak with a touch of port (Trousseau?), a then a touch more sourness. Not a lot of carbonation. Nice balance. Its gets a little fruitier tasting as it warms, but still mostly sour. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is tart with some alcohol.

Sept. 2009 - TR3 - Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing. Pour was dark amber with smallish head. Very faint aroma. The flavor, however was outstanding. I don’t really like these sour beers, but this one was nice. A lot of oak and sour apple cider flavors. Smooth and rich. Perhaps a bit flat in the mouthfeel would be my only knock. I liked it! TR5 - Had on the heels of the TR3. Even better. Sharper flavor, a bit more of everything in the than the TR3. Ratings reflect the TR5.

Bottle: Poured medium murky amber color ale with a small bubbly head with no retention and no lacing. Aroma of oak and sour notes with some light white wine notes. Taste is also a complex mix of sour notes with some oak and vinous notes and well balanced acidity. Body is quite full with low carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very complex and another winner from a fine brewer.
