Lots of biscuity malt character from the best quality Scottish malted barley. Crystal malt add toffee and caramel taste and black malt contributes a crisp astringent balance. Challenger and Goldings hops add a fresh herbal and resin hop note as well as a refreshing bitter linger to balance with the sweet malt character. Clear dark copper, no foam remaining. Light smokey aroma, similar in taste. Smooth drinking. Spotted this one at Moscow airport, could not resist. (Velp 201704)

Part of their Merry Craftmas 6-pack. 5.2% ABV version. Pours a clear deep amber colour with a light-mocha head that dissipates quickly leaving some decent lace. Rich caramel nose with some dark fruit notes and a nutty side. The taste has caramel malts, maybe light molasses in the finish. Not much more. If this was the 3.9% version being like this, might be not bad. This one is not winner. Very bland Scottish ale.

Pours an average size frothy beige head but doesn't stay very long. Has an amber coppery appearance. Weak lacing. Aromas of barley malts, hints of caramel and bready malts. Flavours are mostly toasty malts, nutty, biscuit notes and hints of caramel. Kind of like a buttery finish. Good retention. Oily and slick mouthfeel.

This is a great brew and very stoked to find this in Maui. I have never seen Belhaven brews. I grabbed a two six packs and hit the beach for a BBQ. The brew is clean and well defined. There is a nice midl hoppy flavor and ful bodied. Smokey characteristics are very light which adds to the drinkability of this Scottish Ale. In the mouth it was full and very easy with a superb after taste that was easy and mild. No way to go wrong with this Scottish Ale. Awesome Belhaven!!

Pours a clear orange-amber with a towering, clinging head leaving some lacing. The aroma is that of ripe citrus and doughy bread and sweet malt. The taste is much like the aroma and is of sweet malty and fruit, like orange-blossom honey. The taste of alcohol comes through a bit. The mouthfeel has a light tingle of carbonation, and a nice warmth in the throat.

I had this beer at Easter. I was quite impressed with this Scottish Ale. I was expecting something more meaty and bloody (like Skull Splitter) but this was easy and smooth. Very nice beer.

I'm addicted to this one. Rich amber pour with a creamy, tan head. The head dissipates rather quickly, though. Aroma is malt, roast nuts, and toffee. The 3.9 makes this a great brew for a savory meal.

A: Scotch, malt and very slight hops A: Mahogany ale with a flat head. Pours thicker than I expected. M: Nitrogenous almost syrupy T: Scotch, grain and mold F: A little floral and short This is a complex ale. Definitely worth a try and highly reccomended.

Clear golden amber color with a slight off white head with very nice lacing that settled to a very nice white ring. Several bubbles coming up from the bottom. Red highlights make an appearance on the edges of the glass. getting a roasted malt at first in the nose. A hint of some sourness coming through that was not unpleasant. A bit of butter or toffee rounding out the overall smell. Very nice. A nice roasty, nutty flavor at first with the taste. Again, picking up on a bit of the sour dough with only the slightest teasing of bitterness at the very end. A bit of the butter flavoring hides underneath to make it a very well balanced beer. Mouthfeel was medium and chewy with a very nice snappy, dry finish. Coats the tongue and throat very well. This is a wonderfull beer. This beer reminds me of the fall season. I will definitely give this a second go round. Not too heavy and would go well on those crisp cool Autumn evenings.
