Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5
330 ml capped bottle, bought at the brewery. Poured a clear and burgundy-brown coloured Dunkel with a short half a finger beige foamy head that had no retention and consequently no micro bubbles. Low carbonation. No lacing. The aroma is moderate toasted malts, light coffee beans, dark fruits, plums, light brown sugar and a barnyard touch. The flavour is robust toasted malts, coffeish tones, dusty, dark fruits, plums and sugary notes. The mouthfeel is thin, prickly and light bitter. The texture is watery. This light to medium bodied Dunkel has a dry malty finish. May be this Becher Bräu Jean Paul Bier , brewed in Bayreuth - Upper Franconia, is a trial to re-create a clone beer from the period 1760 - 1830 but the result, for the palate, is close to a rejection. Overall this alcoholized sweety juice is a big disappointement.
