Orange hued with a tall creamy head, Weiss O' Lantern is a white beer brewed with pumpkin. Pumpkin citrus fruit and spice flavours shine through it's full, wheat body. The finish is lively, zippy and darn refreshing. Weiss O' Lantern was designed by brewer Chris Maxfield exclusively for our annual Oktoberfest in Vankleek Hill. 2011 Version - 4.6% 2012 Version - 5.6%

Nice to see a stronger version this year, with 300 pounds of puree. Pours a hazy golden-yellow colour with a good frothy white head, great retention and superbe thick and foamy lace. Aromas of Belgian Ale yeast, wheat and citrus notes. Medium-bodied with a slight creaminess to it. Beautiful spices show up in the taste (ginger, cloves), with the Belgian Ale yeast, wheaty malt and citrus. The pumpkin is present, but well-balanced in the background. Nice pumpkin wheat ale that is refreshing.

Pours a pretty thick 2 finger foamy head. Has a pale golden colour. Has good lacing all around. Aromas of malts, hops and a bit of wheats. Flavours are mainly sweet barley malts, hints of nutmeg and cinnamon and mild hops. Has a smooth creamy mouthfeel, just on the border of watery. Medium carbonation.

Bottle and on tap - pours a clouded orangey gold with a rich cap. Lots of natural effervescence. Demure aroma is a mutation of a Hefeweiss and a pumpkin beer - fruitiness just below a musky earthy squash tones and pumpkin spices prevalent. Flavor is also a amalgam of Hefe and pumpkin flavors much like pumpkin pie spritzer - bready, pumpkiny, spicey but with Weiss peppery carbonation and dryness - the finish dries and you get herbal-woody Hallertau bite at the end. A zesty pumpkin beer that is actually refreshing/quenching as well. More great innovative brewing from Beau's.

The beer pours a hazy orange-gold with a thin tan head, definitely reminiscent of an orange coloured wheat beer. The aroma is pumpkin, spices, and wheat. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is more wheat and spices than pumpkin. While the first couple of Beau’s beers I tried were very good, the others haven’t lived up to the Ontario hype, certainly not at their price point.
