An ancient German style of beer that predates the German Purity Act of 1516, this is a wheat beer brewed with coriander and sea salt. Opa's Gose was brewed by Master Brewer, Matt O’Hara exclusively for our annual Oktoberfest in Vankleek Hill. Expect to find a crisp, tart and refreshing wheat beer an interesting saltiness and clove and coriander highlights.

Pours a frothy white cap and has a light golden appearance. Somewhat weak lacing. Aromas of grassy and citrusy hops as well as grainy malts. Definitely getting the salty like flavours but mostly in the finish. Some mild flavours of grains, toasty malts and a bit of coriander. Puckering and astringent mouthfeel. Quite excessive carbonation. Medium bodied. Actually pretty good, smooth and easy drinking beer. Tried another glass with a dash of the extra sea salt and let it sit for a few minutes. After trying, I think there was enough as it was. :p

Beer pours a hazed yellow gold with a huge generous head which laces well as it subsides. Aroma is wheat malt, citrus, and spices. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is light grains and some spiciness. Not as much saltiness as I've heard some people talk about. Quite refreshing. -

Single bottle at the LCBO and comes with a small pouch, with 4g of sea salt in it and the story behind it. Pours a hazy golden colour with a frothy white head, good retention and decent lacing. Aromas of fresh wheat with notes of bananas and citrus. Refreshing wet mouthfeel and medium-bodied. Fruity malts and wheat taste, with the soft hints of bananas in the middle to finish with the touch of saltiness. Quite an interesting brew that goes down very well with this summer heat. Did not need the extra salt, as it was just well-balanced the way it was.

bottle - comes with some seal salt to "sault bomb" your beer (something I saw the old German dudes do in taverns back in the day) - pours a lightly hazed honey color with a smallish white cap that goes to a surface lace - aroma of biscuit some sweetness and grassiness. Flavour is wheat malts in front with noble hop balance following goes earthy-salty in mid palate dries a bit in the finish, more hops show up there and a nice salty-biscuit bite at the end - a great rendition of a Gose - top notch.
