Our Blood Orange Gose is a tart, refreshing wheat ale that is kettle-soured with lactobacillus and brewed with sea salt and coriander. However, unlike traditional versions of the style, ours features liberal additions of blood oranges during fermentation. This imparts tangy citrus notes that complement the champagne-like flavors, creating a complex and sessionable ale perfect for any occasion.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a pale crystal clear gold body that supports a thin almost bright white head. The aroma is mildly tart and kind of grainy and also just a dash Bret-y as well. A little deeper in I get slivers of citrus sort of orange wedges off in the background. Wow, the taste doesn’t mess around and gets straight to a tart puckering pulse that is quickly joined by a bit of sweet tart candy sensation. To midway and into the finish there are hints of citrus and citrus sweet tart candy and at the edges are the expected moderate levels of saltiness that does somehow help to tame the near harsh levels of wrenching tartness. Interesting beer that gets far more tart than it needs to for the Gose style.

355ml can into tulip. Sour fruit nose with a hint of salt. Cloudy amber beer with thin white head, big bubbles. Weak fruit juice taste and mouthfeel. It’s all in the palate. WOW! It’s like salty/sour champagne with orange juice. Refreshing, interesting and surprisingly moreish.

Thin white head with little retention and a skimpy lace.Pale, gold hued brew with a shit ton of effervescence rollin up this sucka. Nose of citrus and salt. Body is light with a prickly carbonation, tart, aspirin,y and tangy. Large lemony flavors, touch of alkaseltzer and berries. Peaches and tang, juicy.Finish is bone ass dry, salty and fruity.Draft from statelineliquors.

Draft: Poured a hazy orange with white head. Souring pungent aroma. Has that sour salty mix with fruit and grain. Interesting and drinkable.

Sampled a single can at Skippers in Tampa years ago at a concert, but forgot to review. May have been slightly better than the other Highway 128 I tried (The Kimmie, The Yink, and the Holy Gose). That one was more of a lemon citrus gose, but this of course had the blood orange twist. Pretty mild on the fruit which gives it that gose feel, versus some of the medium strength sours in the 5%-6% range. Not as much salt as some of the local/smaller breweries versions of this style. Good beer, just seems slightly massed produced.

Cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma contains some lemons, funk, oranges, and vinegar. The flavor is sour with a bit of vinegar and lots of lemons. Some of that saltiness shows in the aftertaste. Overall a very good refreshing beer.

Comes out of tap clear, bubbly golden with a thin and not persistent white head. Strong aroma has an overtone of orange - must be blood orange - with malty and tart hints. Crisp flavor is malty and fruity, a little sour and a little sweet. Smooth texture has some good fizz. Bloody good!
