Triple XB is a Gold Medal winner at the International Beer Awards. Brown 16.9 oz bottle with a unique banded neck. Pours red-tinged copper, very still with a scant head that dissipates quickly and leaves little lace. Aroma is mild hops and biscuity malts. Flavor is peppery hops, subtle fruit, and plenty of malt. Full-bodied mouthfeel. Nice, I like it, I am not wild about it but I would not turn it down.

Sampled on 12/3/2009. This ESB/Bitter pours a medium brown color from a 50cl bottle. Small to medium sized, quickly diminishing white foamy head, with not much lacing. The aroma is caramel, earthy and mineraly, some tea and citrusy. A medium to light bodied bitter. The malts are fruity and sweet, touch of peat, some clay and some minerals. The hops are earthy and citrusy. There is a touch of citrus as well. Kind of a strange beer, it starts out malty and kind of sweet, then goes earthy and mineraly in the middle and finishes kind of dry with some tartness. Not sure what to make of all that, or if its all supposed to be there. Decent carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp, clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and tart.

a little watery on the palate, so the flavors are a little subdued for my liking. not bad, but definitely nothing special. too many good bitters out there for this...

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Amber to brown colour, decent head. Malty and nutty aroma with notes of caramel and bakery. The flavour is nutty and malty too, but also with a noticeable fruitiness, and decent hops in the finish.

Amber beer with a very small head. Aroma was bordering on bad. There was a sour taint that made me think twice before drinking. Made up for the stink with the taste. This beer had a nice sweet, malty body that mixed well with the bittering hops. Not quite as fruity as most English bitters. Would like to try the cask version.
