Sea Monster Imperial Stout is a new version of an old favorite. This hearty stout is black as the abyss and clocks in at a whopping 10% ABV, a real monster. The flavors of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate are complamented by a velvety smoothness from the addition of un-malted barley and oats. Colombus and Amarillo hops help to balance out the huge malt character of this flavor bomb. Be careful the alcohol is well hidden and will sneak up on you if you don’t watch out. Like most scary monsters, it can be a little intimidating, but have no fear.

650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is10.0%. Black colour, large tan head. Pleasant aroma of roast malts, oats, chocolate and mild coffee, hints of fruity hops. Roasty flavour, notes of roasted barley, strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate, liquorice, hints of fruity hops, moderate bittering hops.

Pours warm coffee-brown with a thick head on the light side of tan. Aroma has roast malt, mocha, molasses, and subtle toffee notes. Flavor is, WHOA, a monster! Bold smoky, quality coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, roast malt, molasses and caramel flavors flow across the palate and leave a lasting impression of a world-class RIS. Thick, heavy texture has decent fizz, and goes down the pipes well. Challenge this monster.

Pours out like black sludge with a nice lingering tan head. The aroma is sweet smeeling toffe. The mouthfeel is a bit bitter but not bad. The taste is definitely of alcohol along with coffee, roasted malt and some chocolate.the IBU Is 65 which is the highest I've been able to enjoy so far. It's better as it warms up out of the ice chest. Or the 10% abv is starting to kick in.

Pours black, my favorite beer colour. Head dissipates as quick as I pour. Not a dot of lace. Mild roasted malt aroma. Flavours are not bad but would expect more from an impy stout. Thin mouthfeel for the style. Little miss from Ballast Point

Pours a pitch black with a one finger chocolate colored head that goes down fairly quick. Aroma is extremely roasted with hints of booze, coffee, chocolate, and licorice. Taste is very strong of the licorice. Damn that taste stays in the mouth for a while, like a concentrate. Kinda chewy and thick on the backing but the beer itself is thin.. Slight fruity taste in the back as well. Interesting beer but not one I would have all the time.

Pours a deep clear brown with a finger of tan head that dissipates to a ring around the side of the glass which that lacing lasted nicely throughout the session. Aroma is caramelly, roasted malts, coffee, a touch of chocolate, and more roasted malts. Flavor initially is roast forward with a bit of bittersweetness. It’s almost as there’s coffee in it. Moderate sweetness, caramel. The hop character is barely detectable but lightly grassy. The alcohol was a bit hot at first, but i am getting used to it quickly.Overall its okay, not upper-tier like some of thier other brews.

A black colored beer with a three finger sudsy textured tan head. There's good hang time on that head. Settles into a low lying sticky film and thick ringlet. U get coffee and dark chocolate in the nose. More dark chocolate in the tasting. Bittering effect. There is some roastiness as it warms. Light bodied.

Confused as to the version ... The label says imperial and oatmeal, with no abv. 8 or 10, looks a little light, feels a little light but is oh do smooth. Malted chocolate, coffee, currants and hops. Nice beer but not elite in a crowded field,

Thinnish brown black pour with a slight light tan head, some lacing. Thin for an Imperial Stout. Aromas of roasted malts, sweet malts, some cocoa, almost overly sweet nose, lightly hopped. Taste mimics the aromas with again a too-thin mouth, a tad overly sweet, decent roasted malts presence, some chocolates, light hops. Just okay - a bit underwhelming.

The alcohol was noticeable on this babe as soon as the cap was popped. Wasn't hidden very well in the flavour either. On the other hand, the roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate flavours jump out at you as well. If it wasn't for the alcohol, I could get carried away on this one.
