Oct. 2017: Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting., from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7%. Dark brown colour, nearly black. Large beige head. Malty aroma, hints of brown kandij sugar and mild spices. Well balanced and harmonious flavour, again with notes of brown kandij sugar and mild spices.

750 ml corked and caged bottle, bought at the brewery. Poured in the original Saint Médard snifter an unfiltered and hazy burgundy-brown coloured Bière de Garde with a two fingers beige and creamy foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Some lacing. Some floating sediments. The aroma is heavy roasted malts, caramel, roasted coffee beans, spicy, licorice and a touch of smoke. The flavour is grainy roasted malts and coffee beans, yeast, vegetables, olives and a point of sourness. The mouthfeel is fizzy and the texture quite watery. This medium bodied Bière de Garde has a dry malty finish. A beautiful nose and overall a pleasant Bière de Garde.
