Seeking out the treasures of the countryside and making the most of local ingredients is an art shared by Badger and the wily poacher. Badger Poacher's Choice is a smooth, dark ale enhanced by a touch of liquorice for spicy sweetness and damson for a soft, subtly fruity taste. Its robust flavours combine well with game, desserts and mature cheeses.

Feb. 2013: 500 ml brown bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.7%. Clear brown colour, moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of damson / plums, over-ripe raspberries and some weird fruity cough syrup I bought in Scotland once. The flavour is fruity and slightly roasty, notes of plums, over-ripe raspberries and cough syrup again. Moderate hops. Pretty weird beer.

Clear ornge yellow with small white foam head. Quite sparkling. Aroma is sweet, candy. Taste is sweet candy, with liquorice. Aftertaste is long lasting, turning bitter over time. (Velp 201305)

500 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original Badger pint a clear ruby-brown coloured ESA with a two fingers beige creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Great lacing. The aroma is moderate roasted malts, strong red and dark fruits, wildberries, plums, syrupy, spicy, licorice. The flavour is toasted and caramel malts, candy sugar, fruity, cherries, strawberries, dark berries, spicy, licorice, woods and weak piney hops. The mouthfeel is sweety and a bit sticky. This medium bodied ESA has a long fruity finish. A pleasant tasting English Stong Ale.

Bottled (thanks Papsoe!). Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, hops, liquorice and mild berryish notes. Flavour is chocolate, roast, rich fruity and berryish notes. Rather nicely balanced. Matches well with cheese.
