Three Sisters Scottish Ale (4.2% abv) is a dark, fruity, refreshing ale that proves a perennial favourite, and is named after the dramatic range of mountains in Glencoe.Chocolate Malt helps to give this beer its very attractive dark ruby colour, as well as contributing to some of the toasty and liquorice flavours in the beer. However, a very large charge of whole-flower hops balances the dark malt character with an abundance of hop fruit flavours. These include dried and fresh fruit flavours as well as some more citrus tones not normally found in such a dark beer. There’s enough ‘going on’ in Three Sisters to keep even the most demanding real ale aficionado happy, whilst the very approachable fruit makes this a popular drink across the board.

500 ml bottle. Poured a clear ruby brown colored ale with a two fingers slight beige creamy foamy head that had a very long retention. Active carbonation. Nice lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, dark ripe fruits, wood. The flavour is toasted malts, toffee, dark fruits, berries, raisins, plums and moderate bitter. The mouthfeel is slight crispy and creamy. This light bodied ale has a long fruity hoppy bitter finish. A pleasant bitter.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.2%. Deep copper coloured beer, moderate white (slightly off-white?) head. Moderate aroma of malts with some fruity hops, hints of berries. The flavour has notes of lightly roasted malts, hints of caramel, balanced by fruity hops. A moderate bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite good.
