Stouts, in the early 1700s, were traditionally the generic term for the strongest dark brown beers popular with street and river porters of London. By the last part of the 19th century, they'd gained the reputation of being a healthful, strengthening drink, so that it was used by athletes and nursing mothers, while doctors often recommended it to help recovery. Deep, robust and richly rewarding, this is beer to linger over. Distinct notes of chocolate, roasted malt and black barley ... and with just enough hop bite to cut the sweetness. Vanilla flavor is subtle, most prevalent in the aroma and imparts a silky palate.

Formally known as Miss Marble, but might of changed a bit the recipe. Pours a very dark brown colour with very little red highlights. Creamy head (looks like nitro), staying a very long, long time. Mocha coloured with thick creamy lacing. Typical Ashton cereal grain malts for aroma with burnt malt notes and some dark fruits. Creamy, but refreshing mouthfeel. Nice rich roasted malt taste with decent hop bitterness that adds a little dryness. Vanilla is little to none, but as a stout, this one is pretty good. A great alternative to Guinness.

Poured a thick creamy average size head and has a very dark brown appearance with red highlights. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of nuts, roasted malts. Nice variety of malty flavours, nuts, coffee. The vanilla flavour is a bit faint but just enough. Leaves a nice lingering sweet aftertaste. Smooth astringent mouthfeel as well as a warming sensation. Pretty good overall.
