Two of our favorite kinds of IPA’s are “session style” and the big hoppy versions. King Hippo aims to mash up those two categories into a ridiculously delicious, supremely drinkable IPA that goes down like a session style pale but packs the hop flavor of a big IPA. Which it is. King Hippo is 6.8% abv, so make no mistake it isn’t your typical “session” beer but it drinks like one. El Dorado, Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops give King Hippo citrus and fruit flavors and aromas. There is a distinct aroma and flavor of white grapes that come from the very unique Nelson Sauvin hops. We dry hopped King Hippo two times for maximum hoppiness. Rye malt was used to add a subtle spicy note to compliment hop flavors. King Hippo packs a pretty good wallop but will go down easy every time.

A light golden color with a white head. Aroma contains some apricot, lemon, and pine. Flavor is bitter but not complex with mostly lemons showing up. Aftertaste is also bitter. Overall decent session beer.
