This is a beer made with real pumpkins. We hand-roasted over 500lbs of heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay. The caramelized gourds were then added to our velvety American Barleywine and aged in brandy barrels for a year. Finally, we blended the barrel-aged beer with freshly brewed ale and added a delicate hint of pumpkin pie spices to round out this decadent autumn sipper.

Tasted at the 8th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on Nov 9, 2013. This barleywine/spiced ale pours a medium amber orange color. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, caramel, pumpkin, brandy and brown sugar. A medium to full bodied barleywine. The malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and pumpkin. The hops are floral and earthy. Nice balance between the malts and pumpkin, wood and brandy. Touch of brandy sweetness. Some alcohol and a touch of spices. Very smooth. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

On tap at 10 East. An excellent beer for a cool early Fall afternoon. A murky brownish/red body with a thin white cap. Aroma has some nice caramelized pumpkins, brown sugar, nutmeg, oak and vanilla powder. Taste has a really nice complexity to it with the caramelized pumpkins, pumpkin spices, the brandy and oak. Extremely well balanced and it has a long sweet finish of pumpkin pie and brandy.

Wonderful surprise from my wife. Brown pour with a lovely orange hue - creamy head and sharp carbonation. Strong pumpkin forward aromas with notes of roasted pumpkin and burnt caramel. Thick creamy mouthfeel really lends to flavors - cinnamon, allspice, alcohol phenols, sweet brandy, and pumpkin. Lots and lots of pumpkin. Probably the best pumpkin ale I will have in all year. Wonderfully crafted.

Looks pretty...dark amber with ruby highlights. Nose will keep you coming back...understated brandy, spices and natural pumpkin, with some carmelized malts making their presence known as well, especially in the flavor. Smooth medium to full bodied palate and a wonderful flavor (nothing is over or underdone) that lingers. Probably the best I've had from them, and a top tier pumpkin beer.
