Brewing this beer is not only science it’s a shart. For the most part a double strength Belgian IPA aged with toasted American oak. This ale has a base of pale ale, aromatic, and caramel malts, upon which is set an American hop triumvirate of Columbus, Centennial, and Cascade. The addition of Belgian Abbey ale yeast provides a spicy, earthy, breadlike character that is truly unique. Lemon and grapefruit zest enhance the citrusy and piney American hop character, and the oak dries the beer out and adds aromatic qualities. 21°

The oak aging is obvious. The Belgian yeast? Not so much. Really no Belgian presence whatsoever. Even for a IIPA not really fitting the style. I liked this as a beer, but an aged double iPa, particularly this one, smells and tastes more like a nice barleywine than an IPA. I'd get again, knowing what to expect.
