The Beast is now pouring. It is a big hairy dark beer brewed with a half ton of floor malted Maris Otter, a few roasted malts and some peat malt I smoked. If you come across it, maintain eye contact, back away slowly and don’t make any sudden moves. We’ll only be pouring a couple of kegs of this one and then send the rest back to hibernate in the Cellar for a while.

    Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 10

Comes out of the tap an opaque coffee brown with just a sliver of a light tan head - but that must be from the pour, to make sure I got as much brewski as possible. Smoky aroma has horehound, fruity, licorice, earthy and even Coca-Cola notes. Bold, robust flavor floods the palate with caramel, molasses and roast malt notes as well as licorice, fruity, and, yes, Coca-Cola tones. Heavy texture has plenty of fizz, and leaves a smoky and fruity finish - I definitely get a hint of cherry as it heads downstairs. (Cherry Coke? Hee hee!) This one is a beast indeed!
