Light to dark brown BBB is nearly opaque, but relatively clear if visible in light. The Bishop has a moderate off-white to tan head. The aroma is malty-sweet, with a rich, caramel or toffee-like character. Very lightly fruity, with notes of dark fruits such as plums and/or raisins. The Bishop has little to no hop aroma. The Bishop has a taste of caramel- or toffee-like malty sweetness on the palate that is lasting into the finish. There is a light dark fruit complexity but not overpowering. Low to no hop bitterness. The beer pours a translucent brown colour with a tan coloured head, bubbly, and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, nuts, earthy hops, and light yeast notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. I don’t know how to define the taste. There is some definite tartness that bugs me. Not a lot of caramel sweetness as described on the can but there is some definite nuttiness in the flavour, and a bitter finish. Looks good, smells good, but something is lost on the tongue. -

A beer named after a WWI flying ace is a great idea, but a better beer would have been nice. This is a mild brown ale that pours a translucent orange-brown colour. Aroma is nutty malt, caramel, and some weak citrusy hops…they tried, God knows they tried. Flavour is just as weak with the caramel and nut malts coming through more than the hops, but the weak body leaves this as a watered down mess.
