It's not as black as other stouts, but it is pretty dark. If held up to a string light you can see golden brown edges as if you were drinking a cola. You get a lot of roasted malt, toasted cereal, and coffee on the nose. As for the taste, it is similar to the aroma, lost of roasted malt and coffee bitterness, tempered a little bit with some chocolate flavors as well.

Beer is a clear copper color. Head is off-white, thin. Aroma is weak caramel, barley, and metal. Mouthfeel is weak. Flavor is bready with light caramel notes.

Found on tap at the Ginger Man. Another decent beer from these Texas folks. The color is darker than expected, but the pineyness was definitely present alnog with some malt. Far from outstanding, but quite quaffable as the bartender said.

Found at Ginger Man in Dallas, a not too bad porter. A tad on the roasty side with quite a bit of dryness to it, but plenty of flavor in the way of chocolate, coffee and pecans. I would definitely try it again.

This beer was a revelation for me...................it was amazing. My boyfriend and I shared a bottle of this dark brown brew. The aroma was yeasty with nuts and fruit tones. The mouthfeel was smooth, yet carbonated. The flavor has heaven. Liquid bread with jam on it.

My husband and I like the Abbayes des Rocs brune so we thought we would give this a try. Not as dark as the brune but stiull a dark brown colour. There was a lot of cherries and plums in the aroma and taste that shined through. I recommend this beer to everybody!

A friend recently visited Germany (she's German so Germany is the world's greatest beer country to her) and brought me back about 50 German beers to try...this is the first. A 500ml swingtop bottle (never felt that swingtops were 'clean') that pours out a slightly cloudy gold beer. Plenty of bready aromas and a touch of hops. It tastes smooth and refreshing, yet slightly watered down. The malt imparts a sweet flavor, almost honey-like, but could be stronger.

Beer pours a pale gold, slight cloudiness, and topped with a weak snow white film. Fresh bread, citrus, yeast, and light spices. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. The flavor is yeasty and citrusy.

Beer is mahogany in color, murky, with a huge off-white cap. Cap is rocky and sticks around. Aroma is bready malt, caramel, nutty malt, and yeast. Mouthfeel is full. Flavor is bread, chocolate, caramel, and yeast.

Beer is a hazy golden brown. Head is huge, rocky, and lasts. Aroma is light fruits, grass, yeast, and citrus. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is grainy, sweet, and has a bitter finish. Alcohol was nioticeable.

I didn't like this any better than the regular version. The bitterness just overwhelms any flavour I've been able to find in other stouts. I've come to enjoy stouts, just not this one.

I guess I'm not a stout girl. After embarking on this hobby, I was able to secure several specimens of the top beers from around the country. I've drank about 500 different beers in the last 8 months, and I have a couple hundred more in my boyfriend's beer fridge. This brew (and that applies to it's coffee like features) is very dark, and has the thickness of a V-8 as opposed to a Bud Light. The aroma is bitter coffee. Bitter, bitter, bitter. It rolled on the tongue without any carbonation. The flavor was also very bitter. I did not like.

This beer finished 5th at a recent APA tasting held by a friend who's an BJPC member. A nice amber pour with a white cap, and a very piney aroma backed by citrus were the positive points for me. The thin body and thin flavour were negatives....although not all my friends felt it was as this as I did.

I'm really not so sure what to make of Japanese beers. They all seem to have a metallic taste to them, or at least the three I tried tonight did. Japanese Budweiser's, they can keep them. The Super Dry was the worst of the three.

This was an alright schwarzbier, most authtntic German schwarzbiers are around the 5% mark in ABV, and this comes in a lot higher. As it's a lager, the higher alcohol content is extremely noticeable. Would not try again.

A pale gold beer, very hazy, and capped with a bubbly white head. The head lasts a long time. The nose is grainy, biscuit, honey, floral, and yeasty. Quite a complex aroma. The taste is cereal malt, light sweet fuity notes, and a bitter finish. A very crisp beer as the Germans would say.

A very nice and refreshing Oktoberfest. A beautiful reddish gold hue that reflects well in the candle next to it. Caramel malt dominates the aroma and sweet malty tones dominate the flavour. Doesn't seem all that complex - just a very good beer.

This was the last place finisher in a recent APA tasting held by the BJCP friend recently. At 44 IBUs, it's a bit light for an American Pale Ale and this showed in both the flavour and the body. Not a beer I would try again.

A very cloudy Zwickl, medium gold in color, and topped by a huge bubbly white head. Aroma is bready with noble hop and yeast notes in the mix. Flavor is quite mild with a nice balance between the bread and the hop in the finish

I must have missed the point of this beer. I didn't sense any hops or rye. My boyfriend said their was a faint hint of rye but no hops. A dark mahogany pour with a sweet malt aroma. The taste was 'dry' and average.

Tried during Sipless Lager week. I had never had a Beck's before, and I'll probably never have a Beck's again. It defines lager perfectly. Clear, dark gold, white head. Grassy malt and floral hops are balanced in both taste and aroma. yet, there's a huge blandness about it that tells you that one is enough.

One of the beers during DIPA night, and one of the better ones. Not as hoppy as the Pliny the Younger, but had the others beat. Very citrusy on the topngue with a hint of malt. Highly recommended for the casual drinker, at 10% you don't want too many.

Lambics are a peculiar thing to me. I've heard how great good lambics are, but I always wonder why anybody would want a beer this funky. The bottle is dated 1999...which adds more to my worries. Cloudy golden orange in colour with funk eminating everywhere. Very tart on the tongue. But this is a standard bearer for the Lambic franchise.

best selling Berliner Weisse, or so I've been told. It's very pale in the glass, head is small, but steadfast in staying there. Funky and tart is the best way to describe the aroma, not much else to smell. Kind of watery, like a swilly lager. The taste is the same as the aroma, except maybe more funky. Not a beer to try a second time

This stuff was gross. The aroma of corn and other adjuncts was extremely evident as soon as the can was open. It looked just like Coors Light, but the off-putting aroma and watery mouthfeel made me gag. Overly sweet, and little other flavour to hold interest. All hype....no substance. I had problems giving the other 5 away...my husband didn't want it nor did half the winos outside the hotel!
