6451 | Royal Ikale Naturally Brewed | Tonga | Pale Lager | 1.5
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 Bottle, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting. My first (and last?) Tonga beer! "Naturally brewed" - that’s an important piece of information, as you otherwise might think that this beer came out of a chemical factory ... Sweet aroma, kind of sickly, notes of rotting pineapples. Mouthfeel is watery like hell, hardly any flavour at all. Well, there’s another "beer country" rated! |

6452 | Zeunerts Höga Kusten | Sweden | Altbier | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 (500 ml bottle, in Sweden). Allegedly a combination of lager and altbier (50/50?). The lager is the winner. Light golden brown colour. Malty aroma with hints of new-mown hay. Malty flavour with a not-too-pleasant bitterness. Drinkable, not outstanding. I'd prefer a pure altbier! |

6455 | Dithmarscher Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml fliptop / swingtop bottle, bought in Germany. Copper coloured, large and lasting offwhite head, nice lacing. Pleasant malty, slightly roasty and caramel aroma, notes of rye bread, some aromatic hops too. Flavour is reasonably malty and slightly roasty, hints of smoke and caramel. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Allegedly this beer is brewed according to an authentic 16th century "Braunbier" recipe (those were most likely top fermented, though - this one is bottom fermented) - at any rate it is well worth sampling! |

6456 | Flensburger Weizen | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 330 ml fliptop bottle, bought in Germany. Hefeweissbiers have had quite a renaissance in Germany, so why not one from the Bundesrepublik’s northernmost commercial brewery too? Hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely strong aroma of cloves and banana, some aromatic hops too. Flavour like an average hefe with a little more hops. Nice. |

6457 | Schneider Weisse Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock | Germany | Eisbock | 4.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 11.2 fl. oz. bottle, bought in Denmark. Bottle number 054113. Pours murky brown with sediment / floaties, enormous head that soon subsides. Delightful intense aroma of yeast, over-ripe bananas, brown sugar, caramel, treacle, oak, alcohol and spices. Flavour is very powerful, malty and sweet with plenty of brown sugar, oak and spices, and a tremendous alcoholic punch. I guess I’d prefer the ordinary Aventinus on a regular basis, but the Weizen-Eisbock is definitely a treat for the dark winter nights, or whenever you want to satisfy your sweet tooth. |

6458 | Jacobsen Original Dark Lager | Denmark | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Beautiful copper colour, good beige head. Moderate caramel malts aroma, some aromatic hops too. Clean tasting dunkel, mellow caramel malts flavour but not too sweet. Decent enough to drink, but not worth the high price. |

6459 | Jacobsen Bramley Wit | Denmark | Witbier | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Very pale colour, slightly hazy, large white head. Moderate but nice aroma of apples, citrus, coves and coriander. Very light bodied, thin mouthfeel. Flavour is dominated by a distinct acidity, probably provided by the sour Bramley apples, but there’s not much apple flavour beyond the acidity. Traditional witbier elements (coriander, orange peel) are very subdued. Minimal hops. Refreshing, but no masterpiece. Does not live up to its price. |

6461 | George Gale Festival Mild | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 Bottle conditioned, a dusty 500 ml bottle at Plan B, Copenhagen, august 2005 - "best before" date was Oct. 2004! Tasted definitely a bit "off". Black colour, low head. Weak roasty aroma and flavour. Sourish and thin. Very disappointing, as my expectations were high. Will need to rerate a fresh bottle or cask. |

6464 | Sierra Nevada Pale Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 350 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Deep golden / amber colour, slightly hazy, large head. Pleasant hoppy aroma with strong fruity notes (citrus, raisins, prunes). Hoppy flavour on a decent malty base, notes of fruits (grapefruit, raisins) and spices. It’s easy to understand why this beer has become part of the staple diet of many American beer afficionados. |

6467 | 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze | Belgium | Gueuze | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 Rerate, 375 ml "champagne" bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6%. Unfiltered, bottled 10/03/2008. Pours very fizzy. Cloudy yellow colour, big white head. Lovely farmhouse aroma, notes of fermenting fruits and spices. The flavour is very sour and tart with notes of lemons and Bramley apples, hints of spices, some hops in the atertaste. Original rating: Sampled bottle, RBNAG 2007 in Grimstad, as 3 Fonteinen Beersel Oude Geuze 1999. Golden colour, large head. Funky aroma / mold, horseblanket. Nice sour flavour with oaky and farmhouse notes. |

6469 | Dubuisson Cuvee des Trolls | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Draught at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Hazy golden / amber colour, decent head. Not very exciting aroma, just some faint notes of malts, hay and apples. Flavour has some malty sweetness and weak spices. Rather alcoholic. This is no masterpiece to offer a real Norwegian troll - and I should know what I’m talking about! |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. Strong aroma, verging on the unpleasant, with notes of oak, brown sugar, lime and molasses. Flavour is oaky, alcoholic and too sweet, with notes of lime and lemongrass in the background. Not a love affair for me this one. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Bottle conditioned, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. ABV was 5.5%, apparently the b.c. version is quite a bit stronger than the cask version? Clear cognac-like colour. Fine complex hoppy aroma, some fruitiness too. Distinctly hoppy flavour with a hint of oak in the aftertaste. |
