4676 | Copper Dragon Freddie Trueman Finest Yorkshire Ale | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Looks filtered, but I don’t know if it is pasteurised. ABV is 4.0%. Golden colour, moderate white head, good lacing. Moderate sweetish aroma of toffee, candy, some fruit and "dusty" English hops. Flavour of a standard English bitter - a slight fruitiness, highly drinkable, with decent hops in the finish, but not really very exciting. Must be worth sampling cask conditioned, though. |

4677 | Løkken Witbier | Denmark | Witbier | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 4.5%. Cloudy golden colour, big to moderate white head. Moderate wheaty aroma, hints of citrus. The flavour is fairly malty for a wit, with very moderate hops and a hint of citrus, but I don’t think any coriander has been used here. There’s a hint of "traditional homebrew" (maybe a slight infection?) in the finish. Drinkable, but certainly not the best witbier around. |

4678 | Djaevlebryg Nekron Stout | Denmark | Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.5% - unless there is a typo on the rear bottle label (brewery website says 8.5%). Pitch black colour, big brown head. Fine aroma of tar and strong coffee, also hints of smoke, salt water and liquorice. The flavour is smoky and salty with notes of tar and strong bitter coffee. Also bitter hops in the finish. Quite dry. Good stuff, but I’d like a little more sweetness. |

4679 | Carlsberg Semper Ardens Easter Brew | Denmark | Bock | 3.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 660 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 6.5%. Allegedly a Carlsberg recipe from 1907. Hops are Spalt and Saaz. Beautiful amber to copper colour, big off-white head with an orangey hue. Flavour of over-boiled vegetables, baby porridge and caramel. The flavour has notes of malts and caramel, but is not too sweet. As the beer warms up a little, a very moderate fruitiness comes through. However, the amount of hops used is far too moderate to make this a really great drinking experience. The beer is drinkable though, but I expect more from a Semper Ardens brew. |

4680 | Augustijn Grand Cru | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml stubby bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 9%. Golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Very nice initial fruity and spicy aroma, loses some its impact after a couple minutes in the glass. The flavour is sweet and spicy with noticeable hops, but the alcohol is not too well hidden. Could have been better, could have been worse. |

4681 | Lindemans Framboise | Belgium | Fruit Lambic | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 250 ml nip bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 2.5%. Dark red (and I mean RED) colour, big pink head. Intense sweetish aroma of raspberries, and nothing but raspberries (or raspberry jam). The flavour is very sweet, and has loads of raspberries, followed by raspberries, with raspberries in the finish. Get the point? I like raspberries and raspberry juice, so I like this beer. Did I say "beer"? You get no indication that this actually is a beer. It tastes like raspberry juice, and raspberry juice is good for you. Know that. Besides, with 2.5% ABV, you’re on your way to becoming a tee-totaller. This is probably one of the most perverted beers I’ve ever had. |

4682 | Gourmetbryggeriet Cloudy Wheat | Denmark | Hefeweizen | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5.5%. Despite the name, this is one of the least cloudy hefeweizens I have seen, pretty close to a kristallweizen. Pale golden colour, big to moderate white head. Typical hefeweizen aroma of ripe bananas, cloves and bubblegum. The flavour has also notes of banana and cloves, hints of citrus, very moderate hops in the finish. |

Hazy pale yellow colour, huge and lasting white head. Moderate but nice aroma of floral hops, some fruity notes too. The flavour is distinctly hoppy but not too much, and has also distinct spicy notes of Belgian ale yeast. Bitter finish and aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden. Good beer! |

4684 | Augustijn Blonde | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml stubby bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is now 7% - seems to vary quite a bit. Pale yellow colour, slightly hazy, huge and white head lasts "forever". Fairly nice aroma of spices and Belgian ale yeast. The flavour is mildly spicy with moderate notes of white candi sugar, not too sweet, quite nice. Moderate hops. Light bodied for its strength, alcohol is well hidden, pleasant to drink. |

4685 | Bayreuther Aktien Landbier Fränkisch Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml swingtop bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 5.3%. Dark brown colour, big to moderate off-white to beige head. Nice aroma of malts, fresh bread and fruity and floral hops. The flavour is quite fruity and refreshing for a dunkel, the malts are there, but the beer is not too sweet. Low bitterness, but scores high on drinkability. |

4686 | Christoffel Dry Hopped Nobel | Netherlands | Imperial Pilsener | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml swingtop bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. Dry hopped, unfiltered, unpasteurised, bottom fermented, classic open fermentation. ABV is 8.7%. Very pale yellow beer, huge white head. Strong aroma of floral and herbal European hops, notes of grass and alcohol too. The flavour is sweet, hoppy and quite alcoholic. Strong and sweet pale lagers rarely "go home" with me, and this one is no exception, even though it is much better than its more industrial counterparts. |

4687 | Famille Dupont Cidre Bouché Effervescent Naturel | France | Cider | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml dark green "champagne" bottle, as "Famille E. Dupont Cidre Bouché Effervescent Naturel", vintage 2007. From Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. ABV is 5%. Bottle conditioned. 80% of the blend comes from the bitter-sweet apple varieties Mettais, Binet Rouge and Frequin, with 20% Judaines and Petit Jaune for acidity. Gushes out of the bottle when the cork is popped, pours very fizzy, moderate carbonation in the glass. Golden colour, white head disappears instantly. Nice aroma of cider apples and sweet eating apples, with a hint of oak. Flavour of moderately oxidised cider apples, medium sweet. Slightly tart finish with hints of oak and sulphites. Easy drinking. |

Aroma of wood, dark fruits and spices, hints of leather. Outstanding flavour with oaky and vinous notes, also notes of dark candi sugar and dark dried fruits. Fairly sweet, moderate hops in the finish. Expensive, but worth it. |

4689 | t Smisje Catherine The Great Imperial Stout | Belgium | Imperial Stout | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml stubby bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 10%. Dark brown colour, but far from black. Big beige head. Very malty aroma with notes of brown bread and caramel, only mild roasty notes. The flavour is also malty and medium sweet with caramel and just some mild roasty notes, bitter hops in the finish and aftertaste. Alcohol is noticeable but not disturbing. Probably the weirdest "imperial stout" I’ve had, but if you disregard the anticipations created by the style name, the beer is decent enough to drink. A new style perhaps? - "Imperial Belgian Brown Ale"? |

Christian Drouin is not mentioned on the label, but I assume he is the distributor. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, pours very fizzy with a huge but short-lived white head. 4693 | Nøgne Ø Pils | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Served very cold. Hazy golden colour, low head. The aroma has moderate notes of pilsener malts and floral hops. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour has a distinct hoppy bitterness from start to finish. Bitter aftertaste. Not much in the flavour to balance the bitterness - but this is clearly a thirstquenching pilsener, and far better than most of its more industrial competitors. |

4694 | Vestfyen Malt Øl | Denmark | Reduced Alcohol | 2.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, from Superbrugsen, Skødstrup. ABV is 1.8%. Ingredients include glucose syryp and colour (E 150c). Very dark brown to ruby colour, big and creamy tan head. Sweetish aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread and syrup. The flavour is very malty, very sweet, with loads of caramel and syrup - but amazingly pleasant to drink. Hardly any bitterness. A flavourful beer with minimal alcohol, in the Danish "mørkt hvidtøl" tradition - a nice "change of pace"-beer when you have to drive afterwards. |

4696 | Nøgne Ø #500 (Batch 500) Imperial IPA | Norway | Imperial IPA | 4.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. (A couple unpasteurised kegs will also be available at Cardinal.) ABV is 10%. Murky brown colour, big cream-coloured to beige head. Lovely aroma of American and New Zealand hops (Chinook, Simcoe, Centennial, Pacific Gem and Nelson Sauvin), fruity and resinous notes, hints of heather honey and orange marmalade. The flavour has of course loads of hops, but the bitterness is not too extreme. Piny, resinous and grapefruity notes. A pleasant malty sweetness balances the hoppiness. The high ABV is noticeable, but not really disturbing. A worthy brew to celebrate Nøgne Ø’s batch #500. |
