Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 330 ml bottle, from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. ABV is 12%. Deep golden colour, some floaties. Huge white head. Strong and complex aroma of spices, Belgian ale yeast, brown kandij sugar, caramel, oak and alcohol. Very sweet flavour, but still with a refreshing character. Strong and complex fruity and spicy notes, hints of oak, decent hops in the finish. Very enjoyable. |

4027 | Hardanger Sider Kvasshovden | Norway | Cider | 3.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 750 ml elegant bottle, vintage 2009, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9.0%. Extremely pale greenish-yellow whitewine-like colour, pours moderately sparkling, no head. Aroma of cider apples and eating apples, a hint of oak and sulphites. Called a "dry" cider, but the flavour is medium sweet. Notes of sweet eating apples, hints of sulphites. Overpriced. |

4029 | Rise Premium Dark Ale Økologisk | Denmark | English Strong Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from NETTO, Denmark. ABV is 6%. Organic. Mahogany coloured beer, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of malts, caramel and brown bread, some burnt notes in the background. The flavour has also notes of malts and caramel, but is not very sweet. Burnt notes and dusty hops in the finish. Not exceptional, but still one of the better beers I’ve had from Rise. |

4030 | Struise Nieuwpoortse Roste Jeanne | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, as Struise Nieuwpoortse Roste Jeanne, from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. ABV is 7%. Brewed for the Heksenfeesten (Witch Fest) in Nieuwpoort, July 2010. Amber colour, clear first, cloudy brown in the end. Huge off-white head with an orangey hue. Moderate aroma of brown kandij sugar, caramel and spices. The medium sweet flavour has moderate malts, caramel, brown kandij sugar and mild spices, "dusty" and slightly metallic hops in the finish. The mouthfeel could have been richer. |

4031 | Lervig Betty Brown | Norway | Brown Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Shared bottles at the release, Lervig’s tent at Gladmatfestivalen, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, creamy beige head. Moderate aroma, notes of malts and chocolate. The flavour has strong notes of chocolate malts, also hints of caramel and nuts, but is never too sweet. Balanced by distinct notes of NZ Pacific Gem hops, which, with their blackberry-like character, is an interesting choice for a brown ale. As Betty Brown is very flavourful and has a decent mouthfeel, you’d easily believe it was stronger than it actually is. This is definitely a beer I’ll buy frequently. In Norway, only Nøgne Ø Brown Ale can compete. |

4033 | Aarhus Sommer-Hvede (Filtered) | Denmark | American Wheat | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 600 ml bottle (summer 2010), from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 5%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, the bottled beer is apparently fitered (the draught version is unfiltered). Moderate but lasting white head. Ingredients include wheat malt, unrefined cane sugar, orange peel and coriander. In other words, kind of a hybrid between Belgian witbier and German Kristallweizen. Spicy aroma, notes of Belgian ale yeast, citrus and green apples. Refreshing flavour, tolerable hops with hints of coriander and citrus, some less pleasant dusty and metallic notes in the aftertaste. |

4034 | Mo Eventyrøl Mørk | Norway | Brown Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 Sample on tap at Gladmatfestivalen 2011. I spoke to Bjørn Moe, and he confirmed that his two Eventyrøl varieties were NOT identical with Glad Laks and Mørk Suldøl - but as I was in a bit of a hurry, I forgot to ask if they were bottom fermented or top fermented. My guess is that they are both top fermented, which would imply that brown ale is the nearest style for Eventyrøl Mørk. Amber to copper colour, low off-white head. Moderate aroma, notes of brown bread, hints of caramel and toffee. Fairly decent flavour, some caramel and noticeable hops. |

4035 | Mo Eventyrøl Lys | Norway | Blonde Ale | 2.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 Sample on tap at Gladmatfestivalen 2011. Golden colour, moderate white head. Very fruity aroma, notes of green apples. The flavour has loads of green apples and little else, and is not good at all. The beer has apparently been fermented at a too high temperature. |

Pleasant aroma of fruity hops, berry notes, hints of toffee. The flavour is medium sweet and malty, but also with distinct notes of fruity hops, again with a touch of berries and toffee. "Dusty" aftertaste. Quite nice beer. |

4037 | Wexford Ale Irish Cream Ale | United Kingdom | Irish Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 440 ml nitro can with widget, from Rúsan, Tórshavn. ABV is 5%. Deep golden to amber colour, typical nitrogen pour, moderate creamy white head. Aroma of caramel, butterscotch and dark berries. Smooth and creamy nitro mouthfeel. The flavour has again notes of caramel, butterscotch and dark berries, bland in the middle, moderate bitterness in the finish. Not great, but better than I feared. |

4038 | La Choulette Bière du Nord La Triboulette | France | Helles / Dortmunder | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 750 ml green "champagne" bottle, as La Choulette Bière du Nord La Triboulette Bière Blonde Artisanale, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 5%. Golden colour, pours rather fizzy, moderate white head. Malty and grainy aroma. Malty and slightly nutty flavour, a hint of pepper in the aftertaste. Not much hops. Drinkable but boring, not very "artisanale" in my book. |

4039 | Abbaye de Vaucelles | France | Biere de Garde | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked bottle, as Abbaye de Vaucelles Bière Blonde Artisanale, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. Front label says 7.5% ABV, rear label says 7% ABV. Golden colour, pours rather fizzy, large to moderate white head. Moderate aroma of malts, hints of spices. The flavour is fairly malty with a moderate spiciness, which saves the beer from being really boring - but the hops are too moderate. |
