751 | Boulevard Whiskey Barrel Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 355ml bottle
11.8% ABV
Best before: July 25, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 25, 2018
$4.85
The beer pours a solid black colour with absolutely no head. The aroma of whiskey shoots straight out of the bottle while being poured. There are notes of vanilla, coffee, and dark chocolate as well, but the whiskey overpowers all. The mouthfeel is full bodied, very creamy, warming, and the carbonation is average. The flavour is dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and a hint of whiskey. A well balanced stout with a complex aroma from one of America’s better brewer and excellent value for the money! |

752 | Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout / Founders CBS | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 355ml bottle
11.6% ABV
Bottled On: September 24, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
December 24, 2018
$8.50
The beer pours a solid black colour, similar to pouring motor oil. The head is a minimal brown film on the top. The aroma is quite complex with notes of bourbon, wood, maple, and coffee. The mouthfeel is full bodied with good carbonation. The flavour is bourbon soaked wood, some alcohol hints (quite warming as it goes down), dark coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. You can smell the maple, but you don’t really taste it. I am concerned that one of the ingredients in this beer is potassium sorbate! |

753 | Northern Maverick Handcrafted Lager | Canada | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
5.0% ABV
Canned On: October 5, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
December 24, 2018
$3.10
The beer poured a crystal clear metallic gold colour, red hues, and with a thin white head which quickly died down to a ring around the edge of the glass. The aroma was grainy malt, some light fruitiness, and floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with slightly above average carbonation. Very spritzy. The flavour was stale grains and wet cardboard. Very little bitterness |

754 | Berliner Pilsner | Germany | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500ml can
5.0% ABV
Canned On: April 17, 2018
Best Before: July 17, 2019
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill) December 23, 2018
$1.95
The beer pours a translucent pale straw gold colour with a generous white bubbly head which didn’t last all that long. The aroma is grainy malt, wet grass, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bitter leather, with notes of grass. The taste kills this! If the can didn't say brewed in Germany on it, I would have sworn this was a North American Macro product (Molson/Labatts/Coors/Miller/Anheuer-Busch)

The name of the brewery on the can is 'Berliner Pilsenert Brauerie GmbH' but the address matches that of the 'Brauerei Schultheiss' |

The aroma is cereal malt, grass, light nuttiness, and herbal hops. The aroma is quite pleasant actually. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is very grainy with stale grains, some metallic notes, and a weak bitter hop finish. Flavour is a let down from the aroma. |

756 | Exchange Brewery No.10 Double IPA | Canada | Imperial IPA | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 13oz draught
8.50% ABV
WVRST – Union Station (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
December 21, 2018
$9.61
The beer poured a hazed light amber colour with a 3cm thick snow white head. The aroma was citrusy hops, mild tropical fruit notes, cereal grains, and pine needles. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was very citrusy, reminiscent of the old style DIPAs before the tropical hop craze kicked in. Also had flavours of weak yeast and grass. It wasn’t as bitter as I would have hoped for, but the thought was there. |

I like it but was hoping for better. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 December 17, 2018
LCBO Outlet #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
330ml bottle
10.5% ABV
Bottled On: July 25, 2018
Best before: January 25, 2020
$3.95
The beer pours a translucent copper hued solid black colour when held up to a strong white light. The cap is light brown in colour, creamy, and about 2cm think. The aroma is roasted nuts, soy sauce, nuts, and oatmeal, and maybe a whiff of alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dominated by roasted malt and alcohol with hints of leather/charred wood, coffee, nuts, and dark chocolate. Sadly the leathery taste and the alcohol being so noticeable kill this beer. |

The aroma is dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, and yeast. Definitely detecting some Quad notes here. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, creamy, with ample carbonation. The flavour starts off sweet with notes of caramel and molasses, with some roasted malt character, some spice, almost peppery in fact, followed by yeast and a chocolatey note. Lots of flavours in this once it warms. |

(Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
December 14, 2018
$7.30
The beer pours a solid black colour with a medium brown creamy head. The peppery aroma of the scotch bonnets hits you right away before noting that there are also notes of roasted malt, coffee and bourbon. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is hot and spicy with the peppery notes up front, and notes of bourbon, coffee and chocolate in the finish. The description lists chocolate and coconut but my palate detects no coconut and very little chocolate, nonetheless a very well done beer. |

(Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
December 14, 2018
$6.64
The beer poured a solid dark brown colour, almost black, with a creamy tan coloured head. The aroma was pretty basic with the roasted malt notes and ginger providing almost all the aromatics. Any nutty and hoppish notes were buried behind a wall of ginger. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour was outstanding to my palate with notes of ginger, roasted malt, and coffee. I really enjoyed this. |

The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and weak hints of marshmallows. Kind of disappointing given how the aroma in the other cans was strong on the specialty flavours. The mouthfeel is weak bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, light notes of coffee and chocolate, and a little more marshmallow in the finish. I’m glad these are done! |

The aroma has a mustiness to it that crowds out the tropical fruit and grass notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. 772 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Chocolate Cheesecake) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.2
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 4, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 8, 2018
$3.49
The beer, when held up to a strong white light, pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges. The head starts out very generous and is light brown, but quickly dissipates allowing the rest of the can to be poured. The first thing you smell is chocolate milk, the Sealtest variety, followed by weak roasted malts and coffee. As with the other stouts out of this box (only 1 more to go Thank God!) the mouthfeel is thin bodied, however unlike the others, this one is undercarbonated. The flavour is nothing like any chocolate cheesecake I would want to try. In fact, this tastes pretty close to a Yoo-Hoo soft drink. I think I may avoid Rochester Mills in the future. |

The beer pours a beautiful translucent dark copper colour with a thin film for a head. The aroma is toasted malts, light caramel, floral hops, and some weak spiciness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and is slightly creamy. The flavour is light sweet caramel, cereal grains, a little yeastiness and a nice bitter hop finish. This is quite good for a ‘Scottish’ ale. |

The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation and a slight creaminess. The flavour was along the lines of the aroma with sweet caramel, toasted grains, and vanilla wrapped in oaky notes, followed by a decent bitter finish. |

775 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Blueberry Pancake) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 7, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 5, 2018
$3.49
The beer pours a translucent dark mahogany colour with brown edges and a fluffy brown cap that disappears quickly. The aroma right out of the can was blueberry pancakes with roasted malt, dark choclate, and coffee. The mouthfeel is very thin for a milk stout, as with a previous can, very soda-like in mouthfeel. Carbonation is average. The flavour is sweet blueberries, bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Again, not a good beer, but would make a decent soft drink. |
