Beer compass?

Website Comments by FLASHPRO

I've been working on the Map feature of the new site on and off. I noticed that the current map tools in this site are really hard to use. I invented this site and even I had difficulty figuring out how to do the stuff I knew it could do! The new site will be more straightforward. You click on the Maps tab and you'll it right away. But my question is what is the most useful tool here? By default, I will probably have it show all the places that are within a certain radius of a given point. Other tools I could add are maps that show your own progress. As an example, I think it would be neat to show a pin on every brewery with a beer you've reviewed. Another map would show only the places you have reviewed (meaning you were actually there, which isn't necessarily the case for reviewing a beer). Any other ideas?

I like the map that shows you what countries and states you've tried, I think that is the most useful map tool here. I find other beer maps useless like the availability map on Ratebeer, as it's a lagging indicator more than a forward indicator.

Thanks for the input. I'm not familiar with what ratebeer has, but I can imagine your point about availability. I haven't seen another beer rating website (like ratebeer or beeradvicate) in at least 8 years. Trying not to influence myself by doing so [:p]
