Should you put salt in your beer?
General Beer Discussion by KENDOSURF
I've heard of this, long time ago I think. Just now tried it...a small pinch of salt in a 12 oz mug of Extra Gold. [:)] [:0] Whoa! I thought it would maybe dissolve the foam, but the reverse is true. Make sure you are over the kitchen sink before you add salt! [;)] This link addresses brewery-added, as well as personally-added, salt. http://www.bonappetit.com/drinks/beer/article/salty-beers [8)] When the foaming stops, you have a mug of beer with salt added. I guess that's all. Like it? Not? Same as with food then.

Back in the day (1970) when I started my drinking career, the hotel beer parlours (as they were called then) had a salt shaker on every table - round tables with terry covers. We'd see the occasional old-timer give his government-mandated 8oz glass a shake or two of salt. Of course we tried it as well, but just a couple of times. Make not difference in the flavour to us kids.
[:0] So it's not required to stir the salted beer! No wonder mine foamed up. Just add a couple shakes at the table and you're good to go. [;)] [8D] Good to see a reply posted. Mostly the only way to know that anybody's been here is to see the Read columns, including for threads that I started.
Got another $3.99 bt&d 16 oz'ers sixer of 211. Cheap, drinkable (as in better than the current versions of Natty Daddy), and 8.1%. Objectivity is my goal. [;)] [8)] I don't regret this evening's investment, but 211 isn't something I'd go out of my way to acquire. As with numerous "so-so" brews, I'll drink it just to be neighborly, and without complaint. I don't expect to see any Craft Malt Liquors around here anytime soon...but perhaps I'd try 'em, if the price isn't prohibitive. [:D] bradpear subtly implied that maybe he wasn't very enthusiastic about adjuncts. Duly noted. If I could get pure brews in the same price range as aal's I'd be all over 'em !!!
