Remember Generic Beer, 1980's?

General Beer Discussion by KENDOSURF

[:D] Man, the days of $0.99 six packs of http://www.target.com/p/del-monte-fresh-cut-golden-sweet-whole-kernel-corn-8-75-oz/-/A-12935932 juice-flavored beer are long gone! [8)] I found them quite appealing, especially since the CrapBeer craze was spreading thru the world of brand name "popular" brews. Many cheapies seemed to be filling their containers from one big Universal tank of...well, you get the idea. [}:)] By comparison, ultra cheap carbonated corn juice with good abv was a WELCOME addition in the marketplace. [;)] [?] Thoughts...comments?

I remember the black and white cans. Also the Scotch Buy beer. Too young to have tried any though. Herman Josephs was a favorite of one of my high school buddies in the late 80s. Just a Coors, right?

[8)] May I add...if anyone has a personal view here, please post! I'm one to appreciate such. Ex: STELLA ARTOIS is widely considered to be a great Belgian, but my experience (and previously stated by at least one other Beerpal) was NOT good. [:(] LABATT BLUE is considered a good brew in my area. I can drink it, but I'd rather have any one of a host of OTHER beers! [:0]

Stella is the Budweiser of Belgium.

It's good for a pale lager. On the sweeter end of the spectrum. The price makes it barely cheaper than some of the larger micros. I have other macro pale lagers I get before Grain Belt as they are cheaper.

[;)] Right you are, but I don't even regard STELLA to be as good as BUD. The one I tried might have suffered from poor storage or something, but it was very fizzy, and no distinctive flavor note besides "skunked". I won't try it again unless it's a freebie...and even then I might refuse! [8)]

You are in GRAIN BELT territory. You should know. I guess I won't hold my breath waiting to get some, but if I see it around someplace I'll go ahead and grab a sixer. [8D]
