My third selection was going to be Mr. Burnett and and Mr. Sumlin, but I didn't want to take over the thread with a bunch of posts in a row. I don't know what I was worried about. This duo IS the heart and soul of electric blues. Howlin' Wolf is the one singer I worked hard as a young'in' to imitate. I wanted a voice like The Wolf with the free-n-easy phrasing of Junior Wells on top of the percussive brutality of Son House. I never was able to pull all of that off...

[8D] These guys are still around, but I regard them as one of my late college days' bands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cars_(album). A freshman on my dorm floor said we should REALLY go hear these guys in the Plattsburgh SUNY Auditorium! It was an old building with capacity in the hundreds. We said "C'mon Mike, these guys don't even have a decent name. THE CARS...?!?" [:D] They skyrocketed very soon thereafter. [:I][:I][:I] oops. 2009 CARS Interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8P_rIowJCA [:(] BEN ORR died in 2000. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHGk_BL15fM

[8)] Sort of an addendum to my HENDRIX post...favorite posthumous albums are Crash Landing and Cry Of Love. Both on cassette. Crash Landing has received (deserved, imo) criticism for the editing, which was NOT done by EDDIE KRAMER. Fine tunes but TOO MUCH high end. [B)] The Cry Of Love is spread out, in its entirety, among the First Rays... tracks. [;)]
