Modern Times

Brewery Discussion by SLOWRUNNER77

Anyone been and just not rated? The basic brews all sound great...an amber hopped like an IPA with some of my favorite hops, a coffee stout made with their own house roasted coffee, a wheat beer with the best hops that weren't already covered in the amber, and a saison. They were mentioned as an up and comer in 2013, which made me look closer. Excited to go there (San Diego) in a few weeks...

I've had quite a few of their beers. All were very delicious. First met them at GABF last year and tried everything they had. Have since done a few beer exchanges with them.

The stout was thin, but smooth. The coffee was done really well. The wheat is hands down best in class, the amber will probably be top 5, and the Saison was better than expected. We also got to try an oaked vanilla version of the stout that was pretty awesome and monster imperial stout that showed NO alcohol at 10.7%. Cool place, awesome brews.

I get to share their 4-can line-up with a few friends tonight that have never had them. Can't wait to see what they think. I'd say unsuspecting friends, but for the most part, they already know how highly I think of these brews. Just couldn't contain myself. Were also doing a taste-off with 2 of my top 3 red/amber ales...Modern Times Blazing World & Deschutes Cinder Cone Red. We'd have had the other in there too (Green Flash Hop Head Red) but we couldn't find a fresh batch.

Can't wait to go back at the end of the month. Expanded line-up and cold pressed coffee (they roast their own) on tap.

A friend of mine brought back Palace of the Cracked Heads and Oracle of the Bottle about six weeks ago for a small bottle share. They were both very very good, impressive.

If you are a coffee fan, the cold pressed Black House coffee on tap is heaven in a glass. The tap list has expanded, and it is good! Still prefer the original location north of the airport, but there are two now.

At first glance, when I heard the flags were at half staff, I thought this was a little excessive. At second glance, Congresspersons get it regardless of what they've done for the country. So, heck, let the dog who was serving the people have his moment too.
