On a serious note...

Non-Beer Discussion by EAGLEFAN538

Global warming gets far too much attention around here. I don't do my share to let that just die :). I'm interested in hearing more views from the community regarding the Florida / Trayvon Martin incident/case. Let's start by deliberately taking race out of the scenario. No, I'm absolutely not declaring it had nothing to do with the incident or the verdict. But, in order to simplify and bifricate the issues, consider this: Race A dude follows Race A dude (both males, where Race A is identical one to another, race of your choice). He calls 911 out of suspicion, while protecting his neighborhood. You konw the scenario. Gun bearing follower pursues beyond the 911 call and ends up in an altercation and shooting the suspcious guy. What does the pursuer own here? Is it appropriate in any state that we have self-enforcers out there with guns deciding justice? I am not a guns guy. I respect the right to bear arms, though. I respect self defense in your own home and/or car or with your family. I'm just a bit unexcited, though, about anyone following a "suspicious" individual of any race to the point of an altercation. There's just an element of "offense" in there that makes me uncomfortable. Leave that to trained law enforcement in my opinion. Add in race, and this gets even more emotional and potentially complex. But, let's stop there. Let's also not get into interpreting the law in Florida or any other state. Assume they may need to be changed or left the same. The question is really "moral" and what should guide the laws. What do you think? (And realize, this is a macro view of the situation, we don't know all the details of how that enveloped - even the jury is missing the testimony of the other deceased party.... you can support the decision in FL and still reflect on this.) And, what is your best "chill" beer to hang out and have such a discussion as the above with your real life local pals.... or beerpals even ;). I'd go with a pilsner, Victory Prima Pils comes to mind.

What is your greatest reason for visiting beerpal? a) cuz of the people b) for the beer information it contains c) for the retailer information it contains d) the conversations in the forum, sans global warming. e) cuz you love "new" and are still excitedly waiting for the "new" site to be implemented.

Yes, in exactly that order.

Yes, in exactly that order.
I might bump d up a little higher, since it is sans .... But, yeah, I think I kinda put them in my preferred order too.

Are you sure you want to jump in to that meeting so quickly? Perhaps you should schedule a planning the pre-meeting meeting.

SO not sure exactly how this could be a poll, but I was looking at the 6 pack of DDC Peche Mortel as I rode the elevator up to my place yesterday and noticed it was 9.5%, and I thought: A) I rarely pay attention to what the percentage of a beer is anymore B) I don't really think that 5% is that 'standard' on which to base beer percentage on any more C) What is the new standard? 7%? 8? I find most of the beer I have been drinking lately hovers around 8.5, rarely going below 7 and rarely above 11. D) What are other peoples standards? Are there regionally or demographically significant variables? (.ie. the provinces, states or countries liquor laws/taxation?)

Also quite surprised to find that their hasn't been a question about what style do you drink most? .ie. most regularly, what style is the daily drinker, not necessarily favourite? -lager -"ale" (bitters, red/amber ales) -IPA -Stout -Belgiany Things -other
