General Beer Discussion by PHISHPOND417

This isn't meant to be a pessimistic thread, but let's admit it: there is a lot of hype built around certain beers that doesn't always live up to its' word. I don't have anything to contribute right now, but surely will as time goes on. Have you guys tried anything lately that you felt more- "meh," than "Whoa!" ?

Slaapmutske FLOSS (Flanders Old Style Sour). What a pathetic attempt at a sour. The only other beer from this brewer I've had (Christmas Nightcap) was also crap. Maybe Shelton Bros are having some quality control issues...

Two beers that got decent scores from me, but expected better... Stone 6th AV (not seeing how this is a 100th percentile beer) Deschutes Hop Slice - session IPA from possibly my favorite brewer got its arse kicked head to head by Wolf Pup from Golden Road.

2016 trader joe's house brew Joseph's Brau Maibock...last year and for several years this Mai Bock was a Bargain! Where it once was worth waiting for this batch is bland brown no character thin bodied shadow of the real Gordon Birch Maibock. The original is at least $8.00 a sixer and the tj version $6.00...forget it brau if ever was one. tj's lived up to its nasty reputation of doing knock offs of real items.

Dust Bowl Canal Surfer Citrus IPA - no citrus, boring, malty Under the Rose IPA - just plain sucks as an IPA Russian River - I'm not one of those that thinks they're overrated (it's become cool to be that guy). LOVE their beer...but they suck at the hospitality/customer service/business end of things. Can't even manage a line for to go stuff (only) on any given day. The service inside sucks anymore, if you were willing to wait in the long ass lines to get in in the first place. I'm done with visits til their larger facility opens, probably in 2018. There's just too much good beer around to deal with their shit.

I'm liking what I see from Tennessee and the Mid South. Finally. [:)][^]

Here's another on the 10 types of beer drinker. http://literatureandlibation.com/2013/05/23/the-10-types-of-craft-beer-drinkers/ Less techy, more funny (especially 6 & 8). I'm kind of falling in with the author. A little 4 & 9 ("It's his mission to compile a mental database of every beer, ever.") Well - not quite. That's what I have beerpal for, but I try anyway. A little comparer too. But for shits and giggles, I'll try to remember to add "it's no Old Rasputin" to every Impy Stout that scores below 4.5 [:D]

Oh, shit, I can see myself in at least half of them, from time to time
