12.12.12

Beer Events by KINGER

It's Going To Be Epic! Stone Vertical Epic Tasting December 12, 2012 We’re commemorating Stone Brewing Co.’s 11 year endeavor brewing the Vertical Epic Ales! Join us on Wednesday December 12th at the Winking Lizard Party Center in Bedford Hts from 7:30pm to 10pm for a beer tasting of Vertical Epic proportions! You’ll get a 4oz sample of each Vertical Epic beer from 03.03.03 through 12.12.12 and the price includes a Stone VE sampling glass to keep and small appetizer buffet. Looking forward to this event. All of the beers will be served from properly stored kegs from what I heard. Unfortunately 02.02.02 was never registered with the state of oHIo since it was above our ABV limit back then. We had a handful of the bottles at a tasting last year with mixed results, but I couldn't resist a chance to attend this. Anybody else have a local event promoting the Vertical Epic series?

Our little group here in Reno has most of them between us, but while it's gonna be fun, I'm really not expecting much from any of the older ones.

Hmmm. I thought the idea was to drink the vertical on the solstice. At least, that's what we're doing with my few bottles (07 thru 12). Plus, here on the East coast I may not be able to get my hands on a bottle of 12.12.12 right on the 12th... Either way, great idea and have fun!

The Winking Lizard was one of THREE places in the country hand picked by Stone to celebrate the release of Vertical Epic 12.12.12 Again I was a bit hesitant since the bottles we opened last winter were not doing too well, but this event is in direct relation to Stone so I'm confident the condition of the beers provided will be as ideal as can be expected. Plan on throwing my thoughts down on all of them and will update/include reviews afterwards.

Great event, so glad I attended. I started with 12.12.12. and worked my way down to 03.03.03 Surprisingly all of the years held up extremely well in the kegs with the only exception being 03.03.03 which was pretty far gone in my opinion. Nothing mind blowing, but a very pleasing tasting. 12.12.12 reminds me of a spiced winter warmer, not sure if that was the intent or not.....worked well I will be adding my ratings & thoughts to those I've already rated soon in case anybody gives a damn. If I had to pick, I'd say the 12/12/12 was my favorite of the bunch.

The 12 arrived here on Thursday the 13th. Looking forward to my tasting party (07 thru 12) on the 21st. I was planning to progress from oldest to youngest. I see that others started with the 12 and went back in time. Are there any advantages to one way or the other? If everyone likes the 12 best, that's a good reason right there to start with it, while the palate is fresh.

I can't say why (the story of my life) but I've always done verticals oldest to newest...til last night. Started with the new Abyss and went backwards. The two older ones and the two newer ones were the same beer. I couldn't see any real advantage one way or the other, just personal preference. Of course, vertical like the Epic, have the added caveat of each year being a totally differnet brew...
