I went to see

Non-Beer Discussion by GEZATRON

Weird Al tonight. You should have seen how the people of Seattle reacted when he sang Smells Like Nirvana. I thought I was going to die. It was so perfect. So amazing. So wonderful. I cried when he sang Candian Idiot. Mainly because he whistled part of Take Off during it. And seeing him on a Segway dring White & Nerdy was epic. Everyone singing Yoda, waving their hands during Amish Paradise, and bouncing in their seats when he jumped on the sage during Fat (while in the Fat outfit). It was all just an amazing 2.5 hours of everyone coming together, forgetting their worries & stresses, and just watching a crazy fool with an accordian do his thing. Also, I was sitting next to a lady from Chicago that had a Weird Al tattoo on her thigh, a pic of her & Weird Al on the background of her phone, and it was her 174th Weird Al concert. She also had a lanyard around her neck for backstage after show and yeah. If you think you're a fan, you'd be wrong. She is the super fan. It was perfect. It was amazing. It was great. It was the best. It was just everything wonderful. And yes. It just was. I can't even. It was beautiful. So yeah... I'm starting to come down from my "concert high" so I'm going to go pass out & dream happy dreams. Before I go, though, what's the best concert you've ever been to? CAKE in 2010 was a very close second for me. But tonight was just spectacular! [:D]

I've always wanted to see Weird Al in concert. "Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota" as well as "Good Old Days" have been part of my guitar-slinging repertoire for some time now.

Metallica in the 1990s (Tool was the opening act) Collective Soul outdoors after a Rock N Roll Marathon in AZ (2006) Alice In Chains at a tiny venue in Reno CAKE a few years ago was cool too, but the venue sucked... Looking to travel to a Richard Cheese show soon - hoping to rival the hilarity of the Weird Al [:D]

Which venue did you see CAKE at? We were actually on a family vacation with my parents and they happened to be playing in Clifton Park, NY while we were going to be in Albany so we had Mom & Dad watch the kiddos so we could go see them. It was really great! LOL!

Am I the only one wondering when Donnie Iris and The Fabulous Thunderbirds became the "Greats of Rock and Roll"?

No, you're spot on. Each had a good song or two, but it would be a stretch for me to refer to either as a "great band".

Whew! Thanks, thought I had blacked out for a few years and missed some significant shifts in the music industry.

Pretty sure Donnie Iris is a legend around the Pittsburgh area. Hell he opened up for Rusted Root back when I saw them in college and the only connection I could make was that both were from Pennsylvania. Definitely a clash of styles on that ticket, but Donnie rocked out the best he could.

Warsaw em here in Reno/Sparks at the Nugget, where tired acts go to die. And not even in te main showroom, but the (chairless and empty) Rose ballroom...where we eat a Thanksgiving buffet every couple years. Great tunes, though...
