I've never really been interested in chatrooms. I have been lured into them on various occasions, but I rarely stay long. I type so slowly that by the time I have formulated and written out a response, the comment is no longer relevant to the conversation. Whereas, in a forum, the converstaion takes hours, even days. I don't even think I'd need my toes to count the number of times that I've been in a chatroom in my life. If I had to pinpoint a reason as to why, ummm....let's blame it on my deep-rooted insecurites about my poor typing skills....and I'm a rather poor conversationalist. Lecturer, sure. I'm all over that. But that is exactly what makes conversations so nerve wracking; it is very difficult to turn that pendantic side of myself off. ...see what I mean...?

quote: 2) The "no one is in chat" phenomenon. People see 0 in chat on the home page and don't bother going in. Some people just don't want to be the first.
That's me for the most part. However it's usually the same 3 people in Chat, so I never really bother on going in.

Gee, thanks. Do we smell bad? [;)] There are people that chat, but not every night.

Ha! No, brother. Just stating that the activity level is pretty consistent.

We used to have a regular Publick House style chat every Wed night at 9 pm Eastern. Everyone would bring a beer and discuss it. People would toggle back and forth between chat, forum, and vault. There would be a dozen people at peak times, and a few that would hang out well after the first couple of beers. Bring it back?

I think we tried bringing it back like 2 years ago but the reception was low.
