Central Waters has recently issued a voluntary recall for it's 2012 Peruvian Morning.

I had received a bottle earlier this year courtesy of heybeerman, and decided to open it this past weekend as I was curious to what the concerns are about this batch.
Having had this beer before, from the 2011 batch I do believe I was able to compare and contrast.
My 2012 did seem a bit different from what I could recall, but it was in no way off-putting or drain pour worthy. In fact it was still a very tasty offering. The coffee was very assertive, and there was a minor trace of barrel influence. The one thing I did immediately notice was a slightly acidic and tart aspect...almost cherry in flavor. It did lighten the body of the beer and was a main component in the flavor.
Just wanted to share my take on this recent newsworthy story.
Not sure if there are worse bottles out there, but if this is the extent of Central Waters' concern with this batch then they are truly a respectful brewer. To issue this recall is a stand up move, but based on my bottle I see no reason to worry.

Good call! Neither is easy to get out here, but I agree they are comprable (as in frikkin awesome!) and PM is cheaper, 1st or 2nd hand.

I had 2 4-packs right after they first came out this year and they seemed fine. After reading this I picked up another one and it has an almost tart cherry sourness. It's strange that this happened right after their bb cherry stout came out, its the same base beer for each one (satin solstice) so maybe some new intern brewer screwed up the barrels?

I will bring the rest of the 4-pack to the bar(n)! I trust you have some '11s to compare? [8D][:D]

Travis, or John, gave me a newer one when I was there for IrishPfist. Haven't cracked mine open ... yet.

I still have a bottle that I brought from Wisconsin. Hmm...I too better do some investigating.

I haven't tried this one because it does actually contain coffee and all coffees save for 8 o'clock columbian give me migraines. Still has anyone considered that it might actually not be the beer but the coffee. Perhaps someone grabbed a bag of Door County Decaf Cherry that had been sitting on the back shelf of the employee lounge for four years and popped it in there?!?[xx(]

I highly doubt it.

Just to clarify - Central Waters has acknowledged and issue with the 2012 Peruvian Morning. It was posted on their facebook page about 4 weeks ago. However, I had a mixed experience. Two of mine were awesome and two had issuees - it has a noticeable tartness - similar to granny smith apples. If any of you have bottles of the 2012 it may be best to consume soon.
