Poll: Rating Style?

Poll Discussion by CLASH

How do you approach your beer ratings? -I do shorter ratings focused on being thorough. -I do shorter less detailed ratings focused on tracking beers. -I do longer ratings so I can provide as much detail as possible. -I do longer ratings to be poetic and/or entertaining. -I rarely or do not rate beers. To clarify a shorter rating is 2-7 sentences (Beerpal requires at least 2-3) which is usually a paragraph. The longer rating involves multiple paragraphs or 8 plus sentences as the standard. This question is asking what you typically do and for what reason.

95% of mine would fall under the first choice although I have rambled on about a few beers with attempts at poetic entertainment a few times (choice 4).

Man, it really depends on the mood I'm in, how much time I have to type something out and how good/bad the beer was (or in some cases how average it is). Definitely not #2 and obvously not #5. I guess it might be a combo of #1, #3 and #4.

Mostly 1. Occasionally longer and more entertaining if it is an especially good or bad beer.

Now a days it's a cross between the first and second options. More succinct with an emphasis on the key aspects good and bad.

definitely depends on the day/beer. i primarily rate for myself, so i can look back and see what i thought of something, so i tend to keep it simple. an amazing or awful beer might be the exceptions... mostly #1?

I'll usually spend more time rating an especially good beer or an epic fail of a beer. Average beer = average length rating.

Mostly #1, occasionally #2. If it's a shit beer, I'm going to get to the point quick. If I feel like it was a waste of time drinking then I'm not going to waste my time blabbing about it. Otherwise I'll rate it how I taste it.

I really only care about tracking the beers and real simple thoughts about if I like it or not..This might not be popular thing to say but I only use untappd app now. I take some notes, keep track of all beers, see what beers are trending around me. See where Craft beer drinkers are drinking craft beers.. bars.. hotels. houses ect...I know who cares where other people are drinking. I thought that too but I have met a ton of good people because of this tiny little very to use app. I still come to Beerpal to see what everyone is drinking and I read the polls but I have 603 unique beers since I got the app that I have not rated...

I have hooked up with several Knoxville craft beer drinkers since using Untappd. We even have our own little group: KnoxBeerCrew
