Salt Lake City Breweries

General Beer Discussion by BRADYRENNIE

Okay all, I'm in SLC for a few days and today was day number one. I went to two breweries tonight. My co-worker and I (we are here for work) first stopped off at the Red Rock Brewery http://www.redrockbrewing.com/index-sl.html. I started the night out with a Red Rock Oatmeal Stout in a pint glass for $4.50. Not bad at all, I enjoyed it. Then I went to the Red Rock Nut Brown Ale. I thought it was okay but was not impressed. Then we walked over to the Squatters SLC Brewing Co. http://www.squatters.com/. I went straight for the Captain Bastard's Oatmeal Stout. I have to say, this was much better of an Oatmeal Stout then at Red Rock's. It was so good I ordered a growler of it to go. Hell, the growler was only $10.98, filled! When I bring the growler back for a refill, it's only $7.99! I'll try more beer from Squatters on Tuesday. Maybe check out one more brewery!

Squatters is a great brewery. I have a friend who drives up to Salt Lake City once a year, and he always brings some back for us.

Uinta is a must stop if you are there for any length of time. Squatters and Uinta would be my 1-2 if in the area.

Thanks for the input but it was a short trip to SLC. I actually went to those breweries on Monday night. On Tuesday night we hit up the Bohemian Brewery, http://www.bohemianbrewery.com/Bohemian_Brewery_%26_Grill/Home.html. The Brewery is more of a Bar and Grill than a brewery. I didn't see any brew rooms or anything that would point to the fact that it is a brewery. The interior was just like a log cabin, very rustic and woodsy feel to the bar. But anyway, the beer was pretty good and I would definitely tell people to try the beer. I had the Viennese Lager and the Cherny Bock. They also had a seasonal beer that's a Nut Brown Ale, pretty good too. Hopefully I'll have to go back in a few months for work and I'll check out some of the other breweries.
