I used to detest cilantro. It tasted like soap to me and ruined many otherwise tasty Mexican and Vietnamese dishes for me. I got to eating small amounts and got to where I tolerate it. While I still don't love it, it no longer makes me gag. I had a nice big bowl of Pho noodles today with some fresh cilantro in it and loved it. Any big food preference changes in your life?

I like the bite of cilantro when used in a balanced proportion in salsa and some other dishes - grilled tilapia with mexican rice comes to mind, but get too carried away and it can ruin a dish.

I can and have eathen most anything, so fake cheese is not out of the question, but not something I just absolutely get a hankerin' for.

Fake cheese has grown on me. My wife is lactose intolerant, so there is always fake cheese in the house. Not a favorite thing of mine, but I can deem it edible now. Still no substitute for the real thing. And I still hate cilantro.

I'll tell you, I actually like a lot of food that I never had as a kid because my mom told me it wasn't good; brussels sprouts, spinach, broccoli... and even a few things that I hated as a kid - eggplant and rutabaga comes to mind. My biggest issue with most veggies is that they're over-cooked.

lasagna, onion, + mushrooms were not in my vocabulary when i was young.. now i kinda like them, the onion + mushrooms have to be cooked.. still can't get near a raw tomato though, gross.... and i don't mind cilantro...

Ginger, especially in Asian dishes. Used to hate it, but now...like the cilantro example....I'm okay with it in small amount. But one Vietnamese place near my work just piles the shit on. Gross.
This will make Lou's head spin off, but until about 7-8 years ago I didn't like pulled pork or ribs. I remember if I ever found myself in a BBQ joint I was looking for the chicken. Now I really like both. And yeah I'm glad I like it now because it's weird for a southerner to dislike those foods. But not everyone in New York likes pizza and not everyone in Philly likes cheesesteaks, but I guess it helps in either case.
