What the cake? I don't get the low scores on RB! I know there's only 3 ratings here, and only 45 there, but it was well below average on RB. No freakin way!
A side note...it tastes hoppier than 44 ibu's would have you beleive.
that is all [:D]

What? I only pointed out some facts about the brewery, not RB. If you drew the conclusion that RB has a lot of sheep that bought into (and continue to buy into) the early perfect scores and hype handed out by Redner's posse, then that's on you, not me. [:D]
I agree with the people on RateBeer and BeerAdvocate, this is not a great APA. It has nothing to do with the lack of barrel aging, or a sheep mentality, it's average. IF you line it up against 10 other APAs, nobody would be able to distinguish this from the others.

Fixed. I have checked that beer before and I believe that the brewer's website just starting listing stats recently. That would be my explanation.

And a link for our (BeerPal) reviews for the beer are posted on the web page that Flash listed. Bonus!

Of course the ratings are different on different sites, they are different people. I would be more concerned if the same person was entering significantly different ratings on the different sites. Personally, I thought this beer was garbage (and their equally insipid Truck Stop Honey brown), just haven't gotten around to rating it yet. If everybody thought every beer tasted the same, there would be no point in having a rating system. Just as there are people who think that Budweiser rocks and Alesmith sucks (I personally know one such person, and to be more accurate, Bud Light is God's Brew to her). We can disagree with such people all we want (and mocking their bad taste is equally encouraged) but it is what it is. This brewery is not one I'll be sampling again anytime soon (according to RB they have a Kolsch, and I enjoy a good kolsch - but I'll pass on this one)

Great, the first two reviews a person sees when clicking on that link are pretty bad....I'm sure the brewery likes that!

That is cool that BP is linked to. Brewers rarely list us because we're so small. But PaulCardom is right. I'm surprised they link to average reviews.

quote: quote: quote: Originally posted by Cottrell I am clearly out of the loop on this kind of thing, remind me, is that the brewery who's owner's sister is a cokehead and father is a strip club juggernaut? The same brewery owner who has a bunch of his buddies sign up for RB/BA to give his beers perfect scores and hype them in the forums? Just checking.

I think you guys are making this more complex than it need be. All it has to do is come from Cigar City, and we're all set. Geez. High octane, sour, uber hoppy, super barrell aged, and high abv all all trends of yesteryear there, eh? It's as simple as friggin' Cigar City.
