Thanksgiving Beer

Beer and Food by TIMMYK77

This may be a really stupid question, but I thought I'd ask. Every year I bring the wine to my family's Thanksgiving dinner because they think I'm an alcoholic, and I know enough about wine to pick out good stuff. I'd like to know if there's any types of beer that go well with a traditional turkey dinner. I'd like to shake things up bit this year. Keep in mind I'm in Kansas and my selection is limited, but if I can't find a specific name, I can probably find a particular type.

Last minute addition to the line up... Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale... review to follow at some point upon recovery from the day.

Had a Samuel Smith Organic Cherry with my Thanksgiving dinner, went well.. and leftovers it was a Saint Arnolds Divine Reserve #10 .. -both paired relatively well .. so a good fruit beer or barleywine would be my vote.. and porters would be a great choice too!!

That time of year; what is on everyone's beer pairing list? Still compiling mine.

I might just go with a couple of the Elysian Pumpkin beers already in hand, or if not, definitely a Christmas/holiday selection or three. Maybe Jubelale, Celebration, Nogne (if I find it soon enough)...

Probably the best thing I can find in whatever airport I'm in.

Wow, I was just thinking about this earlier today. Currently my plan is the Sam Adams Winter Collection, a growler of something locally on tap, and some bottles of home brew. This should keep everybody happy. *plan is subject to change

Great minds think alike...[^] Got a growler of the Marble City Spiced Pumpkin, a couple bottles of Ommegang Abbey Ale, the Sam Adams Winter Classics 12 Pack, a growler of Foothills 13 Rebels ESB and a New Glarus Unpluggged Cran-Bic (<for me. Might share it.[:D])

Should be headed back home from San Diego via Dallas, but I know how the airports are during Thanksgiving... I do have a Sam Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale or three and some of the Whole Hog Pumpkin stashed at the house for when I do make it back.
