E.S.B.'s

General Beer Discussion by DANSTING

Maybe it's just because I've had Grand Teton's Bitch Creek and the Alaskan Brewing Company's E.S.B lately, but ESB's might be my favorite kind of beer now. Anyone else?

Eh, I enjoy a calm E.S.B. every now and then, but they're not favorites. My two highest ratings for the style aren't very well representational of the style. Rogue Brutal Bitter and Willimantic's Anytown A.S.B. For a more traditional E.S.B., I like Gritty McDuff's Halloween Ale and Farmington River's Mahogany Ale.

yeah i love ESB's-----malty, bitter and full of flavor. I wish they were more common around at the store. The Bitch creek was Bitchin', i liked that one. Fuller's was OK but ive been meaning to try it again because i only hear is that its good. I think thay make a beefed up version of that. Redhook stinks and i've had Stoudt's "scarlet lady" esb which i liked.

Bridgeport ESB. Delicious. I agree about Redhook, though. Nasty stuff, that.

Redhook was good until they wen to longneck bottles. It was crap after that. Thanks a lot A-B. I recently had Bitch Creek. Good stuff. I also dig Fullers ESB and Sam Smith's India Ale. Goose Island made a damn good anniversary ESB at their brewpub.

I have recently been enjoying a bit of the Flying Fish ESB ale. It really hits the spot when I'm in the mood for something with a bit of a bite to it.
