Best Rock Album of All Time.....

Non-Beer Discussion by OIZNOP

Since we have a thread on one genre, I thought I would start a thread on a genre that is acutal music, so here goes.... For me, its probably The Doors first album, the Beatles "White Album", Led Zepplin 4 (zoso), and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" What say yinz?

Pretty weak cheap shot... But since I am open to all music I also have something to say on this thread. Rock is definitely my favorite genre so this will be hard for me to narrow down... First, in response to the ones supposed thus far: It's nearly impossible for me to say which is the best Doors album. I love most all of them, but their original self titled is a great choice. For the Beatles, I'm in 100% agreement on the White album. Abbey Road seems to be a favorite amongst many of my friends, but the White really does it for me. Led Zepplin: I like IV, but I think it as an album gets a bit overrated because many people consider Stairway to Heaven to be one of the best rock songs ever made. For me, II is more enjoyable as an entire album. Weezer: Blue Album. Great album. One of my favorites since childhood. Pink Floyd: Like the Doors, it is hard for me to say which is their best. I personally love The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. What a great album. What makes it hard is that this album isn't really indicative of Pink Floyd's style (it was released in 1967). Dark Side of the Moon is probably their best, being it is the 4th highest selling rock album of all time. I am not saying that sales mean quality, but cmon, its a great ****ing album. Rolling Stones: Again, a tough choice. Let it Bleed and Forty Licks do it for me. The Who - Who's Next is great Wish I could go through the rest of my favorite bands. but don't have that much time right now. Off the top of my head right now, I love: Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan Blood Sugar Sex Magic by the Red Hot Chili Peppers The Battle of Los Angeles by Rage Against the Machine I am sure I will remember more later and have to post them.

Just seeing Tull nearly brought tears to my eyes (I've got all their stuff). Ok, maybe not, but I will second and third Aqualung as a grand classic. Can't argue against the White Album, clearly a classic and far superior to the more popularly elected Abbey Road. Again, I've got all the Beatles stuff. #4 is "the" Zep classic, but I've always loved 3 more. Some gems on that one. Wow, I've got all their stuff too. Boston's first album is flat our rockin' and deserves high positioning on my list (Same could be said of their 2nd album 0 oh, and having all their stuff isn't all that impressive, eh?). I've always been partial to Floyd's Wish You Were Here. As a Yes fanatic, I have to nominate Fragile (got all their stuff). U2's Joshua Tree was a great one (got it all). And, well, my oddball one is Traffic's Low Spark (got it all). Doing it tune by tune might be more fun, but that was hard enough to get through. Man, how to pick a "best" among all that? I guess I couldn't go wrong by picking the Beatles.

In no particular order: -Rolling Stones - 'Sticky Fingers' -The Who - 'Who's Next' -Led Zeppelin - 'Houses Of The Holy' -Black Sabbath - 'Paranoid' -Weezer - 'Pinkerton' -Red Hot Chili Peppers - 'Mother's Milk', although 'Blood Sugar Sex Magic' is their best all around album, best mix of what they used to be like and what they have become (IMO), 'Mother's Milk' is just my fav. -Nirvana - 'Nevermind' -Faith No More - 'Angel Dust' with 'The Real Thing' close behind.
