Our thoughts on the NHL lockout
Non-Beer Discussion by THAT_GUY
How does everyone feel about this year's bull**** lockout? It will be over next year and the rules of the game will be tamperd with. Some for the better some for the worse but god knows us as Canadians don't give a rats ass we just wanna see some Hockey Night In Canada.

I MISS HOCKEY SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! Bettman NEEDS to go, he's killing the sport by putting teams where they don't belong, where they have no fan interest, and it's because of most of these teams that the league is in this position at the moment. As for the new rule changes that they want to imply to get more goals, I think it's stupid, the goalies are way better than the goalies from 20 years ago and the players are much better defencively than they ever were. you see the same thing for the NBA, points are down from what they used to be, I remember watching games in the late 80's early 90's where it was rare that a game ended with one team being under 100 points, now both teams struggle to make it to the 100 points. Don't mess with Hockey. it's a great game!!!!!!!!!!! GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While hockey isn't what it used to be, I missed it dearly in May and June. Here's my thoughts on the lockout: "BBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" (We Philly fans just like to boo.)
No way. Hockey is the most exciting sport to watch on TV, with football being a close second. I hope they don't pull any more Fox-like shenanigans with the highlighted puck with the tail...ugh.

Unless they can make the sport better to watch on TV, then it probably doesn't matter much to most of the United States, sad to say.
I dont hear anybody complaining about the high salary's of some of these hockey players. Why is it the commisioner is the one who always gets the blame. Hockey is not a high profile sport and with no salary cap and players expecting more and more this will only kill hockey. Where does all this money come from, there are no big TV contracts for hockey like the other sports, so who is paying these salary's and building the new arena's? Dont get me wrong, I dont care for the owner's making all the bucks, but there needs to be a balance and right now there isnt one. There needs to be a cap in every sport and its time all teams and all leagues wake up or else sports will be too expensive for anybody to attend because of new stadiums and high priced tickets to pay for overpayed players. I love hockey and other sports but the high salary's will kill some of these sports someday.
I hate to argue with you, but seriously, hockey is worse to watch on TV than soccer. It is easily the worst of the major sports. In person, it is easily the best. I'm not asking for the glowing puck or anything like that, but they need to do something. Maybe an overhead camera like they have for Sunday and Monday Night Football. It's almost unwatchable on TV, and I like hockey.
If the NHL, The NBA, Golf, NASCAR, and Televised Poker all dropped off the face of the earth, I think I would leap for joy! I played softball with a bunch of guys who didn't know a hockey puck from a KFC Biscut prior to 1991 when the Penguins won the Stanley Cup. The next thing you know they are forming deck hockey leagues, and fantasy hockey leagues, and would NOT SHUT UP ABOUT HOCKEY and HOW WONDERFUL MARIO LEMIEUX IS. Translation, THEY ARE FRONT RUNNING WAGON JUMPERS!. It became so nausiating that this FORMER hockey fan got sick of it and became indifferent. That coupled with some very nasty things they and other wagon jumping hockey fans said over the years have lead me to be this way about hockey. If the Penguins left town, I certainly am not gonna cry! My games are baseball and (american) football. Anything else is insignificant to old Oiz.

Before the lockout I would have put myself in the category with big hockey fans... and now, sadly, I just don't care.
Players should play for free and be pro wrestlers and insurance salesman in the off-season
