Empties - anyone collect them?
General Beer Discussion by BEERDOG
Does anyone else out there collect their empties, even just a few rare or notable ones here and there.......or is it just my OCD to do this? Storage is not a problem, at least, not yet.

I collect pint glasses, not bottles. I probably have about 400 different ones right now.
I collect some cans for the wall where the beer fridge is, as well as the bottles (mostly imports). I will put those in the shed outside, on the wall. I have also been collecting bottle caps for the last 25 years or so. Way before I liked beer. Running out of space with all my crazy collections (multiple not listed here).
Yep, most of which are in my ham radio room (shack as we hams call them). I also have a mini-glassware collection going to! Would love to start collecting beer steins, but that, my dear beerpals, is a very expensive proposition.

Here in Germany, wire caps are .15 cents, regular bottles .8 cents. You bet I collect em and trade them back every time I buy new bier. The vast majority of sales here are 20 .5 liter sold in a plastic box. The box is worth 1.5 E, so all told, first time out you "buy in" and any time you want out, NP, get your geld back. The breweries reuse the bottles, especially small place like I work at. Makes more sense then tossoing them in a land fill for sure.
I collect lots of beer-related items. I have 1000s of bottle caps, as I have been collecting them since I was very young. I can see how the caps have changed over time, even with a single brand. My one buddy is the Kitchen Manager at a bar, so he gets all sorts of free things, like the giant vinyl banners, towels, stuff like that - and then gives the extra ones to me. I keep bottles, but I will most likely be limiting myself to just the cool looking ones once the amount gets out of hand. All in all I have lots of beer items, but I can't say that I own more of one type than anybody else here (well, perhaps the caps, but thats it).
I had a friend who's hobby was beer bottle collecting-he has upwards of 10,000 last time I talked to him. Guy trades with people all over the world. I guess it's sort of like baseball cards old ones, rare ones, limited production ones...I guess. Oh ya, last i check, he was a bit of an alcoholic too...[xx(]
hell ya i collect em. me and a bunch of friends store em back in michigan. we are approaching around 2000 bottles, we have 3 rooms in a barn (2 of which we had to build) that house the bottles on shelves. All are on display along with alot of the cardboard from the packaging of the bottles. There used to be pics on the web at WWW.beerrroom.com
I started collecting the bottles. I made shelves on the walls in my garage surrounding my beer fridge and have them displayed. Right now there are 159 of them up. I also make magnets out of the bottle tops and put them all on my fridge. I suppose it will overtake itself somewhere down the road and I will have to choose to keep the ones I like the most and scrap the rest.
