Best Brewpub/Brewery City

General Beer Discussion by DANSTING

I'm just curious what my fellow BeerPals think is the best city in terms of brewpubs/breweries. I like here, so I think Kansas City is okay. I really liked my trips to Boston and Milwaukee as well. I've heard San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland are the best, but I'm interested if anyone recommends any other cities.

In Reply To #1 Portland has the highest concentration of breweries and brewpubs within city limits. That's a cream dream for me. I think I'd rather travel through Brussels though, or maybe Bamberg.

I'm pretty happy with the amount in Fort Collins - 3 micros, 1 macro, 2 brewpubs (used to be 3). Plus plenty that are close by (Boulder, Denver, Longmont, etc)

In Reply To #1 The Philly area does quite well. If you're thinking globally, Munich is one of the best.

Best way to answer this is by asking what is the best crab to eat? The ones sitting in front of us this evening. Good company can't make bad bier good, but it sure helps it go down.

I'm sure there are better, but San Diego is definately in the Top 5 with Stone, Alesmith, Pizza Port, Oggi's, Alpine, Ballast Point being great breweries/brewpubs, plus lesser known places like San Diego Brewing Co., Greenflash, San Marcos Brewing, Coronado Brewing, On Tap!, 2 Rock Bottoms...so many breweries and Brewpubs. Then you have the beer bars like O'brien's and The Liar's Club. Damn! I love living here.

Not the best, but Chicago is very nice with the Goose Island Brewpub, Piece Brewpub, Maproom and Three Floyd's brewing in the area. Too bad you gotta head to Milwaukee to get New Glarus!
