At 10.5% abv this black as night ale is aged in Four Roses Bourbon Barrels for 6 months. The Bourbon Character of the barrels comes through nicely and pairs exquisitely with the rich dark malt flavors of coffee and chocolate. This is a rich beer that is made to be a full palate experience. Pair this one with a piece of dark chocolate or a side car of a nice bourbon and your night will be complete.

Pours opaque coffee sable with a good tan head that leaves generous lacing. Aroma presents rich roast malt, quality coffee, bourbon-soaked wood, semi-sweet chocolate and subtle molasses tones. Flavor takes all this up a notch, except that the bourbon and wood go up two notches. Maybe the chocolate as well. This is one superb brewski! Body is thick and viscous, while fizz is strong and lasting. One of the best I’ve ever had - wicked good!

On tap in the downstairs tasting room @ Wicked Weed. Near black pour, tight tan head reduced to a solid tan cap, minimal lacing. Nice upfront Bourbon nose and flavor, rich and inviting, vanilla, oak, deep roasted malts, dark chocolates follow to create a fine rich Impy Stout. Kudos to Wicked Weed. My new favorite Asheville brewery!
